I've got a rather odd conundrum. It should be an intuitive thing; just adjust the EG\Release knob to adjust the MIDI release sent out from the keyboard. But it doesn't change a thing.

If there is distortion when using headphones, with the volume set very low, then that doesn't seem right. It might be down to a hardware issue, but it is probably worth doing a factory reset first. ...
