You're doing nothing wrong.

Also, if you plan to sell it, a factory reset will bring back the factory patterns too.

Unless you want to use a PC (but even a Raspberry Pi + a usb midi converter could fit your needs), you need something like a Kenton MIDI USB Host or a similar product.

Set the Electribe global midi channel on a different channel, not the same of the part sequencing the Monologue.

Have you eventually set the groove depth at a value different from 0?
