For the first time, I am attempting to trigger the samples in a KP3 remotely, from a midi keyboard. Please help.

My problem was the driver installation. I read the Korg USB MIDI Driver installaion manual .... Using this I was able to uninstall and reinstall the driver.

Thanks. That sounds like a useful modification.

As it is ... I am going to try to trigger two pads to make up the length of the sound.

I guess what you are saying is that if I create the right sequence on a sequencer, then start/stop the sequencer, and if the KP3 is slaved to the sequencer ... it will behave?

I'm cutting my samples in the PC and that does not help loop samples. It looks like loop mode completely trumps the note-on timing. I hope a software update can give us a choice of either.
