Mine is plenty soft. Of course you can hear it if you get close and try to listen for it. It's softer than a PC fan.

My MacBook Pro gets way louder when the fans run and my Mac Pro is just... loud. ...

Thank you for your input, however, the violin has a pickup installed to a 1/4" jack. When I install the internal mics in my accordion I plan on having a 1/4" plugged into the side of it.
