The ethernet goes between your Kronos and your Router. Your computer needs a File Client, like Filezilla. The Kronos and Computer meet online, via the Filezilla Client host.

I would not call the Kronos unstable. It is a complex machine and as such, it is possible under certain rare circumstances to have things go bonkers. But that is rare.

SW1 can be used to swap octaves. It is CC#80. Can you map the Footswitch to CC#80 to turn SW1 on and off?
