PostForum: Korg M3   Posted: Wed Sep 28, 2011 2:12 pm   Subject: KORG M3 PADS AND RIBBON
The way I use the pads: For real-time sequencing of drum parts, to trigger RPPRs as simple arpeggiator alternative, and to trigger chord changes in Karma. The idea of using the pads and SysEx messag ...

I'm going to second the comment about the Motif being harder to use. I've owned Yamaha, Roland, Kurzweil and Korg synths, and of all of them I had the hardest learning curves with Yahamas. They just ...

Indeed you can achieve this with karma, but i didn't understand why "it's not what he wants". it's exactly what he is asking for i believe, hold a chord with the pads and play another sound ...

Unfortunately there's no latch mode with the pads.

Karma can latch the chord from the pads, but its not the same as what you're asking for.

well then do not buy it, for orchestral stuff it won't give you any enhancements. for arpeggiator you have karma...

Agree.

The EXB-Radias is all about synthetic sounds. I'm sure you could work ...

In my experience, the M3 has one of the best aftertouch implementations I've played. Very controllable and less on/off than any keyboard I've owned or tried. My guess is that its not the same as the ...

McHale, these guys are using theirs in rooms without air conditioning. I think the additional heat coupled with the angled position could be causing problems with the liquid membrane that covers the ...

Sorry McHale, we differ on this. My tests led me to conclude gravity was the main factor. What solved my problem was laying the unit flat. And that was the only thing that solved it.

That's what w ...

Just like the Triton series, I guess there is no fingered portamento, that is what is missing, as for the time or rate? I guess as with the Triton it would be time.

No, that's not correct. M3 does ...

If it has to be rate-based then you're out of luck. But it does everything else -- mono-legato with portamento. Frankly, I usually prefer rate-based too, but time-based is not that big of a compromi ...

I think your friends are mistaken. You can set a EXB-Radias program to mono, single-trigger mode (on the Program Basic page) which is the same thing as mono-legato, then on the OSC Pitch page you can ...

I'll weigh with a little different perspective. Being able to expand the sample palette is one of the most attractive things about workstations IMO. If you don't like your synth's take on the ultima ...

If you think about it, even from the GUI - you are filtering what is being received, not being sent.

That's actually not the case. You're filtering what is sent as well. The Parameter Guide sa ...

If you filter out CC1 by checking the checkbox for slider5, the 'JS+Y' controller is still 'open', which in this case is also CC1. So effectively you are not filtering it out.

This is what I wou ...

My degree is in computer science and I've been working in high tech software for 22 years. I'm not so bad on the tech side myself.

But like I said, I don't doubt the behavior is as you described. ...
