The Global has ALL of the sounds and algorithms from previous versions, a better signal output strength and quicker program changes. There's nothing you lose by buying the Global.

I use a Zoom R24 for my recording and it's crystal clear. You can set it to 24bit/96khz as well. The extra inputs are great and you can have 16 other tracks playing as you record.

The ES2 isn't really a phrase sampler or a looper. There are better tools for that job. If you want to loop, checkout the Boss RC505

The 13/14 and 15/16 by default are mute groups, to simulate hihats. If 13 is sounding, 14 will cut it off and vice versa. You can switch this on and off per part. Check it out in the manual.

You almost certainly have the "knob jitter" problem. A physical fix is required using greaseproof baking paper or similar. The procedure is on this forum if you search for it.
