Used Korg pa3x vs New PA4x
Just wondering..
Where does the pa3x fall short of the pa4x?
-Sound quallity
-style quallity
-ease of use
But isnt the pa3x still a formidable board if bought with a huge discount?

Of course it is a great board! However the 4X is leaps and bounds better, with the new sound generation, finally great guitars, wonderful piano, much better drums, etc. Also the 4X can audition styles directly from USB.
Many features remain the same though. If money isn't a real factor, go for the PA4X, 3X is still a great kb.
Be aware there may be problems with the tilt screen on the 4X.

The pa4x is far outside of the budget.. Pa3x allready means stretching the budget. Thanks for the advice Don..DonM wrote:Of course it is a great board! Hi Bachus,
One of the reasons I got the Pa4X (61 keys) not Pa3X is because of its tilted display and other reason its weight 30.64 lbs vs Pa3X weight 32.4 lbs.
For me these were the decisive factors before looking at other features since I do regularly live gig in different lighting situations and most often the lights
hit the display (with flat display) from up and create the reflections.
Other thing I wish Korg includes one day in the next PA Arrangers is back-light panel to see and recognize easily the buttons and sliders in the low lighting
situation during live performance. I had this feature (back-light panel) in 1999 in my GEM WK8 , very advanced keyboard in its time.

The pa4x has a panel back-light option: global-: general controls-: interface (panel backlit: off, soft, medium, strong)

If budget is an issue give greentoe a shot. you might find a great deal most times.
I don't know anything about music. In my line you don't have to -- Elvis Presley.

I dont think anyone sells a pa4x inside this budget... Its a limmitation i can accept...
Just wondering how much the soundquallity difference is... I have played the pa4x a few times recently, and loved it. Havent played the pa3x or heared it live in over 3 years. From youtube video's seems however the difference in sound is huge....
Please check your PM. I sent you details.Bachus wrote:

Thanks D575 for the suggestion.D575 wrote:The pa4x has a panel back-light option: global-: general controls-: interface (panel backlit: off, soft, medium, strong)
I tried it and set it to Strong, It's not bad, it gives you small light in the buttons but not practical as GEM WK8.
In GEM WK8 the backlit allowed you to see easily the name of different buttons like Styles, Performance, Stop, Start, Ending, Tempo, etc... in low lighting conditions.
Thanks anyway for your info.
I added a screen shot of backlit panel of GEM WK8 in 1999:

one use these functions,
yes the pa4x is great but not much more than pa3x , I have both and i play them side by side and it is close in sound and yes there is a few more samples maybe 3 new guitars and bass some drums and the rest is the rom from the pa3x and pa4x bigger screen , but the pa900 has a big screen also, the pa4x OS need work and it unlikely we will get more major update ,korg will just fix some more bug that we fine here ..
Where does the pa3x fall short of the pa4x?
-Sound quality - a little
-style quality - some new ones
-ease of use --it about the same
- TC-Helicon Harmony - Pa3x has more in it, korg cut thing of it in the pa4x they say no one use these functions, sampling I don't use it , that will be the next to go.
-new sound generation , if you play in bars ,they won't know, and if you say i play in the studio and for people who know , then you should use a Kronos
...

I just purchased a PA4X76 from greentoe for an unbeatable price
76keys
https://www.greentoe.com/product/KORG_P ... yword=pa4x
61keys
https://www.greentoe.com/product/KORG_P ... yword=pa4x
the way that works is you go bid a price you want to pay. this site has ties with other stores, one of them will accept or counter offer. and if you accept they will ship it.
I did a bid early this week and got the keyboard delivered yesterday!
couldn't be happier.
you should bid about 20-25% less than retail price. they have a meter that shows what is a possible good price , before you bid it. Their customer service is great. You have to email. But someone gets back the same day.
I have no affiliation with this site. It was my first purchase through them. just sharing a deal I got, for the benefit of others....

Also greentoe success
Thanks for the recommendation.
I was also able to secure a new PA4x through Greentoe.com. it's paid for and on its way via UPS arriving tomorrow.
I am very happy about the deal I got but it makes me thinking about the future of the instrument retail industry. Stickerprices are sky high and with deals possible for about 60% of retail something is off. Greentoe is only possible if the retail pricing structure is somehow skewed. Anyway: I am looking forward to next week (traveling) to check out my new PA4x.
