How can we get the file format of style?

Post by ismaximum »

Hi All,

How can we find the format of style and sound file?
I am a computer programmer so I was thinking if I have the format of the file I can create a software to manage the styles and sounds.

Does anybody know whether these sort of information is open and available or does Korg give this data to users?

Thanks

I made the same request to Korg and the information is not forthcoming. Encryption and compression is used and my guess is that Korg will not disclose the details. I heard a rumor some years ago that is was based on LZW algorithms, but even if it is, you still need to know the encryption key.

Regards,
Rob

Thanks Rob... but then how those companies like EMC and Xtractor are able to decode the file? Probably they sell these sort of information to third parties.. I don't know but at least they can be clear whether they do this or not!

I believe it is the Style file structure that is the most difficult, though clearly EMC and Korg know all about it. Korg Italy are just declining to communicate with programmers such as you and me. I am being stonewalled. Maybe you will have more success.

The partial style manager functionality offered by WaveXtractor does not permit "style management" because there is no facility to move styles between different files. All you can do is modify the locations within a single Style file. Nor is there a facility to repair linkages from styles to user sounds.

In its present form, I am sorry to report that it is useless to musicians - it needs some serious enhancement which WaveXtractor are unable to commit to do.

Thanks,
Rob

Thank you so much for building this style manager. I just bought it and I want to congratulate you on your development. At 15 GBP it is a real bargain and I think all Pa users should have it as an essential item. I will help you with publicity because your pricing is so reasonable.

I would like to ask Admin's to create a new topic, say "WaveXtractor Sound and Style Manager for Pa series". If we do this, will you be willing to add information and answers? Also will you be willing to consider feature requests to assist in your ongoing development?
SARCASM?!! or not.......? (just wondering)

wavwxtractor has been around for a while Rob. i wanted to know if you just found out about it and you truly enjoyed it and hence your comment or you knew about it before and your post was a sarcasm and you believed quite the opposite of what you said.

i dont have any experince with this software but also i know you were searching for a long time for the encryption so i thought maybe you already knew about wavexractor so i was just wondering, sarcasm or not? :)
is xtractor really good?

I updated my post about WaveXtractor's Pa style manager. Sorry to have initially been enthusiastic about this. It is useless.

Yes I already checked wave xtractor. It's not what I'm after.

I'm sure that's not what Wave Xtractor had in mind either. All attempts have failed and hit the brick wall so far. I'm no software programmer, but it seems to me this is a dead end and most likely you too will end up developing another piece of software that will come short of delivering the main ideas. Unless Korg steps up to the plate and does something about this, there's not much anybody can do.

Restless programmers with java knowledge , you can examine the outdated LeLibby application where you can find
information of korg's format and encryption since it was the most brilliant and freeware third-party PCG editor !
