Question concerning the Polysix programs
While I can simply put any portaento time (in the osc parameter in the sequencer) for most of the synthe programs, I cannot make reactive to portamento any Polysix program in mono mode . Why ?

Et voilà ! All is explained !
Thank you very much voip.
It would not have been bad to add portamento to it into the Kronos.
The originality has its limits !

There has been an old thread about that :

I got an idea but don't know if it works : simulate protamento by using the Bend Group of Karma GE. It has to be tested.
I'm sure Stephen Kay could answer to that issue.

it would not change its musical characteristics if Korg will add portamento to the Polysix. It is the proper of good instruments to evolve.

Here's how to simulate portamento using a KARMA Real-Time Bend GE.Liviou2004 wrote:I got an idea but don't know if it works : simulate protamento by using the Bend Group of Karma GE. It has to be tested.

Pick a Polysix program, such as IA-106 Wanna Go Square, set it to be Monophonic.
Assign KARMA GE 2045 RT Real-Time Bend.
Set as shown in the following screen shot.
Adjust Sliders 1,5,6 to taste. Play around...

Awesome Stephen!
I remember someone asking about portamento in the polysix a little bit ago and I suggested using KARMA. Never did figure out the settings bc the person didn’t want to go that route or something. I’ll have to try your solution sometime. If I’m not mistaken, KARMA can only do that monophonically right? Or can KARMA do polyphonic realtime pitch bends too?
Someone else in that thread I mentioned suggested sampling the polysix into HD-1 and adding portamento there. Thought that was a really smart idea.

Thank you very much, Stephen. I was quite sure it was possible but didn't know how to do it !StephenKay wrote:Here's how to simulate portamento using a KARMA Real-Time Bend GE.Liviou2004 wrote:I got an idea but don't know if it works : simulate protamento by using the Bend Group of Karma GE. No, only monophonic. But check it out, it's interesting. Basically, what it does is delay every note pressed by one note, and then bend the previous note played up to the new note. So you play a C. That is stored (the first note after turning it one will not have a bend I think). Then you play an E. It puts out a C but bends it up to an E, creating a "glide". The length of the bend (portamento time per se) is controlled by slider 1, while other aspects of how soon the bend starts and ends are controlled by sliders 5 and 6.CharlesFerraro wrote:Awesome Stephen!

Actually, to anyone who cares: try the default settings once you load the GE with a distorted lead guitar program. It's set up to do "hammer-ons". In this case it bends to the previous note and back.

Thank you very very much Stephen and all here.
I will try the Karma steps and also that idea of sampling into HD 1
It's getting better better better all the time

I've done a test. Perhaps I didn't find the right setting but it's closer to a kind of Pitch EG and that doesn't really sound as a Portamento.
Up to the latest OS I fear the only way to get portamento to the polysix is to sample the sound and play it in HD-1 engine.
Kronos 2 88, Roland AX-Synth, 2x Roland A-800 Pro, Behringer Vocoder VC340, Synton Vocoder, Neo Instruments Ventilator 2, Panda MIDI Beam, Joh.P.Andresen Harmonium, Studiologic SL990, Beyerdynamic DT770/880, FL Studio, Shure WH20, AKG WMS470, Shure SE535, Xenyx Control 1, U-Phoria UMC404HD, Visaton Monitor, Gig Performer, PreSonus Studio 26c, Macbook Pro

Re: Question concerning the Polysix programs
Something to try that might work for you on Poly6 engine:kronoSphere wrote:While I can simply put any portaento time (in the osc parameter in the sequencer) for most of the synthe programs, I cannot make reactive to portamento any Polysix program in mono mode . Why ?
Set KARMA to GE 2015, Dual Env Gen
If you then go to Control Surface and play with the sliders, you can get some controlled pitch bends that might approximate your portamento needs.
Remember that you can assign the footswitch to turn KARMA on/off.
