does your Extreme touchscreen have a noticeable delay?

Post by baldo »

i'd like to see if this startup touchscreen delay issue is something experienced by all Extreme owners or, by just a minority of owners.

i am only referring to a STARTUP lighting delay. i am not referring to any delays in response during normal use of the touchscreen.

also, if you do have a delay is it consistent? mine is not. sometimes there is a delay; sometimes there isn't.

i have owned a pro since shortly after their introduction and have never had an issue w/the touchscreen.

i have noticed that on two occasions when the screen does not seem to illuminate within a reasonable period of startup that if i lightly tap the EXT76 the screen does illuminate. that doesn;t sound like a startup issue. maybe it was coincidence on those two occasions.

regardless, i'd appreciate it if all the TEX owners would vote yes or no on this poll.

we need to have a baseline of feedback.

thx. i really do like my EXT76. the enhancements are definitely worth the $$.

The thing i find most freaking is that it does it mostly when i gig. It did it only twice at home but 2 out of 3 times i bring it to a gig or rehersal, it happens. It's pretty nerve-wrecking. It's starting to be a running joke as all my bandmates stand around the Extreme when i'm ready to power it on!!!

The only thing that doesn't make sense about this is that the Extreme, as far as I know uses the exact same display as the Triton Studio, which I don't remember anyone having this much trouble with. I wonder if it is just a perceived abnormality?

FWIW: I've had a Triton 61 "Classic" for 5 years or so and I've never experienced this problem.

i posted in another thread that i have owned a triton pro for @ least five years and have never expereinced this issue.

so far it is 11-1 - yes a delay exists - 10 of 11 say it is inconsistent.

has anyone else been able to get the screen to light by lightly tapping the extreme?

I have owned a triton classic ProX for 6 years and I never had any problem with the touchscreen!
Now with the TE I have since the first turning on but not every time.

touch - screen delay

Post by pastars »

Hello all,

I have the same issue with touch-screen! My extreme is doing that more often than before, and I`m worried about it, because every time I gig, my extreme plays this "little" joke, that isn`t funny :? , so what I do is just restart it again (and I hve no idea what else to do? At fist time I thought that it`s somehow related to temperature changes): but still the question remains, why do this happen?
Can I do something to avoid new unpleasant surprises in future?

Thanks,
Pastars

Actually, mine has been taking a couple seconds longer than usual as of late and the only thing that's changed is the temps/humidity. It's by no means hot outside yet but it wasn't this inconsistent during the winter months. I'll be keeping an eye on it.

I own both the classic 76 & extreme 61 , never had a problem with the TC screen light.
I get the light delay on the extreme, usually around 1 or 2 seconds, constantly, but if i hav'nt used the board for extended periods ( a week or week & half ) the delay is longer , around 10 seconds, i've also noticed it does it on a cold day .

First time I've used my board in a month or so this morning.

Took about 2 minutes for the light to come on!

my tex88 some times can sit for 5 minutes and the display is dark. all other buttons are on, i can play sounds, switch modes, and if i look close when switching modes, the screen does reflect what mode button i pressed(prog, combi, seq, etc.)
usually i have to shut off tex88 and put it back on, that most of the times helps, but not consistently. on second reboot, it may be dark again, which requires a third reboot.
