What features would you choose?
With all the posts expressing disappointment that the PA2x is not the huge leap forward that people were expecting/hoping for, being sensible and realistic, what features would you have wanted to see on the new flagship arranger?

Simon - you beat me to it. I was going to post the same question.
The way I see it Korg have addressed many of the things that we've been asking for:
- More Polyphony (120)
- More RAM (256MB)
- Tiltable display
- Ability to record directly to HD
- EQ on overall sound
- USB 2
- USB host device for external storage
- Direct MIDI connection to a computer
- Lighter weight
And I'm sure some more that I've overlooked.
There are a few items that I would like to see however these are more software / OS related rather than hardware:
- Ability to view the score on screen
- Ability to control the functions of the PA1X from the sequencer (like fills, patch changes etc).
- Along with the above the ability to use the sequencer in Style Mode to compliment the auto accomps.
- Piano roll editing in Sequencer mode
We don't yet know what the load speed is like as nobody has reported what the actual load times are so we'll have to wait and see whether this has been improved.
I'm a little surprised at all of the negativity that has surrounded the release of the PA2X. The PA is already a very versatile and powerful instrument and contains a lot of functionality.
I too would be interested what the expectations were/ are.

Larger Display - see T2 as reference;
Much more RAM;
Much faster RAM loading;
Modern groovy styles, (smooth Jazz, R&B),
here is a big lack.
Ok, other brands aren`t better, for ex. E80 has just one style of these categories which I can accept.
And you can totally forget about T2 styles in this regard.
But KORG, you should consider serious wishes and trends!!!
I refere to several, also my posts related to the style problem.
Special salute to Italy

Seeing as I asked the question, I'll add my thoughts.
On the hardware side Korg have pretty much given me what i need. (see Dave's post above). Yes, the larger display used on the Oasys would have been nice but not really a show stopper. The twin immediate start MP3 players is also welcome for me as I can now use the rest of my studio gear (loads of VST Instruments and Samples using Cubase 4) to create backing tracks that sound awesome and i can start them in the middle of songs which I couldn't do before.
The one slight disappointment is that Korg have obviously changed their relationship with TC Helicon. The VP in the PA2x only has 3 voices instead of the 4 in the PA1xPro and also the voice modelling and pitch correction upgrade has been removed. Shame.
A huge assumption I know, but I wonder if the decision not to include any EXB slots is down to the EU directive which made KORG's own boards illegal. They would have had to change their manufacturing process to make new boards and maybe that would be too expensive.
Other things I would have liked are mainly software enhancements such as.
-The ability to route sounds/tracks with effects to the separate outputs.
-To remove the VP Songmode setup out of Global and make it song
specific. i.e. Some songs have the VP triggered by midi tracks, other
songs, play the keyboard in Notes mode.
-To be able to store Midi Files or MP3's into player 2 in the Song Book to
allow them to be played instantly one after another.
- Extend Guitar Mode to be a live performance tool (similar to the Real
Guitar 2 VST)
- To be able to route midi file tracks to play any or all of the Upper or
Lower keyboard parts.
- Even more sounds (you can never have too many)
I'm sure there are other things, but these spring to mind just from reading the manual ( I know I'm sad like that)
Cheers

There is still no answer to Yamaha's SA voices and Korg really has to address this if it is to keep its market share. The SA guitars, saxes and brass are simply phenominal and if yamaha had a built in sampler and proper fully featured sequencer i would amlmost certainly have purchased it over the Korg.
Secondly i really want an fully interactive keyboard so that as i get better and play more complex chords, runs and voicings the keyboard actually interacts with me. Sort of like a musical version of the Karma but something that actually follows progressions and adds licks and bass runs, drum fills and guitar licks that can be triggered for example on 2-5-1 progression and different licks on other progressions. I know this would take a whole lot of programming but it would really make the instrument even more inspirational .

I agree that there are some great voices on the Yamaha. However I'm sure that if we owned Yamaha's there would be things that are not perfect there either.
Most of the things I've seen so far are software related - and there are some good things listed.
New styles are something that could be addressed by providing updates without the need to buy a new machine. But then again everyone would be complaining that Korg should provide these for free as their original keyboard should have had them.
The way I see it I don't have to update my keyboard neither do I have to choose Korg. But I do because it's great kit and does most of what I need. There's nothing out there that meets all of my requirements - otherwise I'd buy it. Korg is no worse than anyone else.
