Korg Poly 800 / Poly-800 Wrong Key
Hi guys... I'm a complete newbie to synths and I just bought myself a Korg Poly 800 Mk 1 on eBay. I've been playing it through headphones so far only and it sounds fine (no factory presets though, just my own creations). The problem is that when I play a C on the Korg, this is actually a concert E (an E on a piano) The tuning slide and pitch bend stick are both centered, so it's not this. I've heard people talking about problems with internal batteries, but I've also heard people say that the Mk 1 doesn't have an internal battery...what's the problem?!
Thanks,
D
Thanks,

You can do a simple CR2304 battery receptacle insert in place of the soldered battery on the unit as it is now. In the future you'd only need to slip in the new battery then instead of a soldering to the board which is not preferrable. I did it and it took just under 15 minutes, let me know if you're interested in more on this, its findable on the web though if you want to try.

A standard Poly 800 does not have an internal battery.gaia wrote:You can do a simple CR2304 battery receptacle insert in place of the soldered battery on the unit as it is now. ahem
sorry but i've owned now two "standard: poly 800's and yes, it does have a soldered CR2304 on one of the circuit boards. I hated having to resolder new ones so I opted for the upgrade which is to add a battery receptacle for the CR2304 that way if it ever needs to be changed again you just pop it in. I might add I owned one of the very first poly 800's that ever was produced and then one of the later, no internal difference I can see.

Picture coming
just to show you what I am talking about, I will take photos tomorrow and post them for you, I have no other explanation about why mine was different than yours but it isn't/wasn't the mkII model.
by the way i am from the US i don't know if you're from another country or not and maybe that would have some indication why there might be differences in the build.
