Are there any TS owners who are using the Optical output to connect with their soundcards digitally?
Do you get noticeably better results than connecting via analog? |

I use Digital whenever possible for all my gear, and yes there is a difference.
Depends on what you prefer though. I like a super clean sound free from all forms of noise.
It's a clinical cold, which brings is onto the debate of Analogue VS Digital.
Analogue is considered warm when compared to digital. Where, I' just feel analogue it's noisy
If I where forced to use analogue, I'd be looking for a power conditioner put on the line.
Regards.

Hi Sharp,
Thx for your reply.
May I ask:
1) what OS your DAW is running under,
2) what sequencing software you are using, and
3) what sound card are you using?

You sure can, but my answers won't help you any. I assume you have a problem, so you will need to be very specific in what info you want.
My DAW is a Intel PC inside a large mixing desk.

BeOS

It has no name as it's dedicated software designed by Tascam to make use of the controllers on the SX-1.

They are all Tascam.
Regards.

Hi Sharp,
I don't have a problem.... yet.
What I am trying to do is avoid any compatibility issues before I make my purchases.
That's why I'm trying to find any TS owners using RME and Cubase (optically) to see if I should be worried.
thx again.

I see.
Well really the optical connection between the TS and the PC will be the least of your problems ever as this is a basic resource that any PC with an Optical I/O can deal with. Even if it's got a crap sound card and no ASIO.
So really what you should be looking for is what works well with Cubase rather than what works well with the TS. Digital I/O will give you very little problems as far as connectivity goes.
Regards.
