I've been on the look out for a decent step sequencer for the MS-10, I know Korg's own SQ is the one to go for, but they're very expensive and hard to find. I have spotted this:

http://www.thomann.de/gb/mfb_sequencer_step64.htm

As it has CV outs I'm assuming it would be a good match for the MS-10, am I right in thinking this, or is there something specific about the CV output I need to look out for?

(As an aside I just recently put my guitar through the external input on the synth and got the loveliest warm overdrive from it, and with modulated filter action too! It just had a brilliant 70s vibe to it, which is something i don't usually get through my solid state amp!)

the biggest problem would be that this device's CV outs are probably Oct/V instead of the Hz/V scaling that the korg ms10 and ms20 uses. I cant actually find any info to confirm and deny it, so i will assume it is oct/v like the other 80% of the analog synth world is.

There is also the polarity of the gate signal. S-trig vs V-trig

the ideal solution is to use a device like the korg MS-02 interface which does the hz/v>oct/v and oct/v back to hz/v as well as the trigger conversion.
The only problem is that these boxes are nearly impossible to find at a tad expensive. i paid about $600 for mine but now i can integrate with all my other analog gear so it was worth it.

there are other, cheaper ways to convert the signal tho. Going from oct/v to hz/v is a hell of alot easier than going the other way and all you need is a simple logarithmic attenuator circuit (antilog)
The easiest way is to use a moogerfooger CP-251 (venerable swiss army knife of the CV world)
With this method you just adjust the attenuation and play each octact to make sure it tracks properly.

Now if you dont have a cp251 or a ms02 you can easily build one using a 100k potentiometer and a 100k resistor if you are handy with electronics.
Heres a page that shows how to do it for a ms-20. Im sure the modification for the ms10 shouldnt be that horribly different.
Cykong mods
This doesnt have to be hard-wired, all you are really interested in is that simple circuit in the red box.

converting the gate signal is dead easy, here's a document from doepfer:
http://www.doepfer.de/faq/gen_faq.htm#S-Trig

i know this all seems like a hassle but once you can bridge the gap to the oct/v world, a whole world of possibilities open up as far as what you can do with this synth.
