|
|
I know that the PA1X Pro has the ability to import and read both Akai samples and programs, but I was wondering: has anyone tried to read floppy disks actually recorded with an Akai sampler? I am asking because even a sophisticated program like Kontakt 2 can read/import samples from an Akai CD ROM, but cannot read my own floppies, recorded in Akai format.
This ability to read/import Akai samples and programs is shared also by the new PA2X Pro, with the difference that it lacks not only the floppy but also the CD driver, so you are supposed to use an external floppy or CD reader, connected to the USB port.
Does anyone have an idea of the price of an external CD reader?
Thanks in advance.

Problem #1:
my PC doesn't recognize floppy disks in Akai format: it gives me a message saying "Disk is not formatted: format it now?" This means that I cannot transfer the files from the floppies to my PC.
Problem #2: even if I could transfer the files to my PC, I cannot burn a CD in Akai format (or at least I don't know a way to do this). So I guess that I am stuck...
Thanks for the suggestions anyway... |

Nope, the disk is more than likely perfect.
Any AKAI Format disk with a lower version number than 3200 is not PC compatible. You need special software to read the disks.
There are many programs that can get your PC to read and convert AKAI disks to a PC compatible format.
Regards.

I have every format of AKAI disk there is, and I've read them all in my Triton. Stands to reason that the Pa1X is no different.

Kind of hard these days to find just a reader. Chances are you will have to go for a CD-Writer. Which should cost no more than $100
Regards.
