Hey guys,
Finally upgraded my desktop. Moving from an older iMac 17" G5 to the latest Mac created, the new iMac 20" 2.4 GHz. WOW!
Just wanted to give u the scoop after trying it out for a few days and let me just say, it's really FAST! with the new intel core 2 duo processor which I've tried in my Mac Book anyway, this time really faster with 4MB of cache, 1GB of RAM which I'll upgrade to 2GB very soon, 800MHz BUS, 320 GB hard disk, a full 20" glossy screen with a glass top, silver finish, I really must say I'm impressed.
Having a desktop with all included in one piece and a good engine just makes it perfect. Apple has really switched the iMac from basic home user to semi-professional computing. I am using all pro softwares on it with no problem. Really a good move from apple.
Just thought to share those thoughts with u guys. _________________ Carol

I'm looking at making the leap, after one too many PC problems...
iMac 2.8ghz would be plenty fast for all intents & purposes, right? By that I mean ProTools LE or Digital Performer with maybe 2-3 softsynths, maybe 12 audio tracks. With 2-4gb of RAM, should that be ok? I don't do much Photoshop or anything else fancy.
I mean, I could get a MacPro, but I'm thinking it might be overkill for me... |

Hey guys, haven't posted for a while, took a long trip to the US and just back a month ago.
Well the iMac so far is really amazing and I'm truly impressed. It's quite fast and very stable with all my music projects and softwares. I truly recommend it as apple did a nice move on turning the iMac to a more professional desktop compared to its older versions (had a G5 iMac as well before this one but wasn't fast enough).
I'm also enjoying the large glossy screen! I see so much better with glossy screen especially when working for long hours on editing tracks, I have a feeling my eyes are less tired since this new screen size and gloss. Or maybe I'm just biassed
Anyway, thought to keep you in the loop now that I've used it for a month. Will keep you posted with more info as I start using it more. Thanks for ur wishes _________________ Carol
