I have bought an MS20ic midi controller. It will not show up in any host programs including KLC Analog or Digital. I have spent hours on forums and cannot get it to work. Please help me. I'm trying to contact Korg too.
Here is info about my set-up and what I've tried.
MS-20ic is new.
I have a Windows XP service pack 2 PC.
MS-20 is connected directly to the pc, not a hub.
I have cycled the on off switch on the MS-20 and have the red power light.
I've tried (2) drivers KLC-1 disk midi driver and the latest midi driver from Korg.
I have uninstalled my other midi controller.
I had no problems installing my other brand midi controller via usb.
In control panel/Hardware, it states that the driver is enabled but not functioning properly.
My MS-20 controller didn't come with any 'dongle' as it came packed with KLC-1.
MPU-401 is installed on my pc, but as stated I've had no problems using another usb midi controller.
Any host recording software I use all state that I have no midi hardware connected to the PC, even thought the MS-20 is connected, powered on, and shown in my hardware list.
I've been a loyal KORG hardware user, but getting the Legacy software registered was brutal and now the controller will not work.
I am really frustrated by this as I spent a good amount of money on this controller. I am getting very upset. |

If you are in the U.S., call/phone Korg USA Product Support on Monday
http://www.korg.com/service/contactus.asp
It is unfortunate you spent "hours on forums". Korg Tech Support should be your first contact.
Something has gotten messed up on your computer, since the MS-20 controller definitely works with Windows XP.
I would suggest the following:
1) Unplug the controller from the USB port
2) Uninstall the Korg Midi driver (after you do, you should NOT be able to see any entry in "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties")
3) Restart your computer
4) Install the most current PC Korg USB Midi driver (v1.1.1):
http://www.korg.com/service/downloadinfo.asp?DID=1235
5) Plug in the MS-20 controller
There should be a paper manual "KORG Legacy Collection MS-20 Controller Owner's Manual" that came with the controller. |

Sounds like you have a driver conflict. Use the USB driver tools application to remove all USB midi drivers from Windows. Then next time you connect the MS20 Windows should see it as a USB device and only install it's default driver.
That should fix the problem.
