I am borrowing a friend's TR and am looking to store Patches for easy retrieval on stage.

I have a Yamaha W5 and can easily assign different patches (sounds) to the 16 buttons on the board. This allows for quickly moving between patches during a song.

I can't seem to find the similar function on the TR.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!

Les

You can alter the original Combis and save them to memory.

On stage, I "created" all my custom combines on C 94,95,96,97 etc. etc. so that all I have to do is hit the up or down button to get to the next one I need.

I would personally like to get a midi control pedal to do this with my feat but I don't know much about thoe or which one works well with the TR.

Or you can use the "hold 10" feature - that way you can acces any of those by hitting one number button (1 for 91, 4 for 94 etc) and switch 10s with inc/dec buttons (97 -> dec -> 87 and so on).

What if they are in different banks? A b or C

*shrug* but at that point you might aswell just push + or - to get to them in tandem.

Interesting discussion.
This is what I was asking myself as I still have to receive the TR88 today or tomorrow and I'll use also in live sessions.

Now, one time we found the better buttons to use...is it possible, for example, for each song, load a different sound sequence from an SD card in those easy to access buttons? If yes, how many time it takes to load this different preset? I don't want my colleagues waiting for minutes before I'm ready to play Very Happy

Thanks for your feedback in advance.

Regards,

Sandro

For several years now, I've been using my Korg Karma, and more recently my TR on stage, and I think it takes me about 4, or 5 seconds at the most, to change patches, and thats if I have to change banks, or go from PROG, to COMBI. so it's not that big a deal.
That said, I thought of just rearranging patches so that they're in consecutive order so that one button would get me to the next patch, but if we change order due to a request, etc. then I would have to punch up the patch anyway, so I just haven't done anything but improve upon my button pushing speed.

well yeah, but you that way you can access 10 different patches with one key and another lot of them with two keys (like inc + number or change bank + number), not just adjacent ones - so it's faster in some cases

Anyone know a good midi foot switch so none of us need to do this at all hehe... I don't know what ones are compatible or work well with the TR.

I moved the Combis I wanted to C100, 101, etc. I appreciate the advice.

If you happen to know of a good combi that emulates a Grand Piano with a hint of reverb, please pass it along. I've found some nice pianos in Prog, but none yet in Combi.

Thanks again!
