Hello M3 people,
I am seriously considering purchasing an M3 module without the keyboard, mainly because I don't need to have another keyboard to find room for. I have a Novation ReMOTE49 and an M-Audio Axiom 61.
The question I have is:
Does anyone have any experience or comments to make regarding using the M3 module with a keyboard other than one of the native Korg M3 keyboards? Is there any reason I would really miss having the ribbon controller and/or the joystick. I know that the joysticks on Korg keyboards offer a little more than just simply pitch and mod functions (I have a Micro X).
Thanks for your time and opinion.

Having the Korg joystick, ribbon and switches is definitely a plus although I guess it all depends on what your doing. I would miss not having them. You could probably get your controller to trigger most stuff via it's joystick. The switches can be triggered via CC 80 and 81. The ribbon is another story.

I use the module with a casio 88 key digital piano (amazing action). There is no pitch bend or ribbon on that, so I use a novation small midi controller with its pitch bend and X/Y pad.
Works a treat, plus altogether the rig weighs a fraction of what an 88key workstation would. |
