|
|
I bought the R3 as my first synth, and after getting some practice with it, I'd like to start using it live at school. However, there aren't any banks to latch something and have it loop while I move to another program to layer on top. Obviously, some sort of software like Ableton Live is probably the cheapest option to be able to record and instantly loop on the fly so I can move to a different sound on the R3. However, sometimes program like that seem unwieldy, and also there is a certain lag that occurs between the synth and recognition in the program that's quite annoying. So I've been looking into some hardware options. I suppose an MPC500 would work but I'd rather not spend so much money as I'm just getting into producing electronic music. Would the Korg PadKONTROL do the job? Or is it simply a drum machine? IF it could record directly from the R3 and loop, how long can it record, etc., etc.. If not (or even if it can), is there a similarly priced piece of equipment that can do this job better?
Thanks so much![/b] |

The Electrix Repeater, or if you're willing to wait a little bit, the Electrix Repeater 2. |

The PadKONTROL does not sample/loop then? I only see a repeater on ebay and that's for $300, more than the padkontrol (even not considering the software bundle that comes with it), which is $200. So did you think it was better/cheaper(somewhere i'm not looking) or is the kontrol not what I'm looking for? |

The PadKontrol is just a controller that sends midi notes. Any sound it makes will be through software on your computer. It does not record any audio or play any audio by itself so it wouldn't really meet your needs as a hardware solution.
It sounds like Live really would best suit your application but it may require a learning curve, especially if you are just starting out. |
