Hi Guys,
I tried this in the Extreme forum, but not much reply. I hope it's ok to try here as well, since it isn't very TEX specific:
I hope you guys can give me some pointers.
Usually I have been occupied emulating key-based instruments like Organ, piano and synth. I'm getting pretty good at even getting the Organ stuff right. I have also learned that the sound that you play (or timbre) is not everything, but what is even more important is the expression you use. For instance vol. pedal on organ or some stick or after touch modulation for synths.
I'm now standing with the challenge of emulating a Brass section for rock and 70 disco music. As for now I have all the presets in the TEX, but I cant seem to get them to sound right. It always ends up sounding rather "canny" or like "they've got a cold" (hope you understand this rather non-technical description).
I know that there are some very good sounds in the download section, but it's very tedious to go through everything in order to find a brass sound.
I would like some pointer to the following:
1. A good versatile patch (both a standard TEX, downloadable or payable) that emulated a brass section of trumpet, trombone and sax
2. some pointers on how to express these sounds to make them natural, and actually sound like a brass section
3. are the standard TEX patches really bad? is it the samples or the patch?
I'd be looking forward to any inputs.
