I did search around the forums so as to not echo a question so sorry if I am:

I'm looking to get a scsi external hard drive for my original triton 76 just mainly to save a maximum of 20 or so samples and maybe 10 or so edited sounds. They have all kinds of sizes on those hard drives! Do I really need one higher than 4.5 Gig?? There's one with 18 Gigs and another with like 50!

Thanks guys!

If I recall correctly, the Classic will not recognize more than 4 Gb.
The higher capacity drives will work, but only 4 Gb will be seen.

Give this guy a call. I haven't ordered anything from him yet, but I did speak with him and he knows what he is talking about. And he seems like a good guy.

Marc, thank you for the recommendation. I am a good guy;)

As for hard drives, yes, the Triton Classic, LE, Rack and Studio can only access 4GB of any hard drive. Based on the sizes mentioned by the original poster, I'm thinking he is looking at some vendors on eBay. I won't say anything bad about these vendors but know this - the drives they sell are all used.

We sell brand-new 9GB hard drives that work great with the Triton and you waste a minimum of space. My feeling is better to buy a brand new fully warranted drive that is guaranteed compatible than some old used drive with who knows how many years of spin time on it.

Also, think about one of our MCDISK card reader drives instead of a hard drive. They aren't quite as fast but have lots of other advantages, like no moving parts, no noise whatsoever and unlimited storage capacity.

Please feel free to contact me if I can ever be of help.
