This friend of mine owns a korg i30 hd

he tried to upgrade the firmware
but after the second floppy was inserted after a while it stopped responding
after turning off and back on only thing that you see is just an empty blue screen no sound nothing at all
someone said that the motherboard needs replacement
is there a ware to reset this machine to the factory defaults
please email me at gmvcom@primehome.com or answer me back asap

if anyone has any part for this (mainboard)
or selling a second hand korg let us know

but there should be a way to repair this without replacing motherboard

If you changed diskette at the "Please insert system B Disk" prompt, you may have corrupted the update.

Sadly the upgrade instructions are a little misleading - this is what you should do:-
(Steps 5 & 9 MUST be understood and followed)

1. Insert Diskette #1
2. Hold down Back.Seq. and Play/Mute Main Keyb. buttons and power ON the i30.
3. The i30 will start loading the file A.
4. After few minutes, the display will prompt: "Please insert system B Disk"
5. DON'T CHANGE THE DISK AND DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING BECAUSE THE SECOND FILE (B) IS ALSO ON DISKETTE #1 AND IT WILL LOAD AUTOMATICALLY !!!
6. When the display prompts: "Please change to system C Disk" insert Diskette #2.
7. After this operation the display prompts "Check the system"
8. When i30 is waiting in Arrangement C11 turn OFF the i30 The Update is successful.
9. Whilst the update is in progress, the display will show "DON'T TOUCH ME". Please, don't forget, don't touch anything (button, keys, and other) because the i30 will stop the update and crash (like Trinity) and to recover, it is a job for technical people in the Korg service laboratory.

If trying this again fails, your Korg service engineer should be able to fix it - I think a chip replacement is required and it will almost certainly cost money (I have no idea how much but you should speak to your Korg Service engineer).

I would NOT recommend trying to fix this yourself unless you are knowledgeable with the i30 hardware structure.

Good luck with it - hope it all works out well for you.

Cheers
