Had a run of ideas while mixing, but too late to re-record:

Again another cool piece from you. This has a great progressive feel to it. If I may add a few thoughts: separate you guitar sounds out a bit. There is hardly any mid-range in this song, especially in the guitars which would thrive with a boost in the 500-2.5k range. You sorta followed through a bit toward the end with the solo sound, but I felt the distorted guitars needed much more presence than they had.

Outside of that, the only other thing I can think of is for you to work on some creative panning. Some of the instruments would have done well panned to their own spot.

I will say you are spreading your wings here.

Jon

Thanks Jon,
I really should have started this one from scratch, it took most of the month to get the initial idea together, and then all of a sudden the deadline was looming. The strings and synth arp were both on stereo pairs, everything else (apart from the drums) on single tracks. I'll have a review at home later.
It's a challenge, but a good one Smile

I think it would be cool when the guitar changes up around 2:00, if the drums were different as well. Would cause a different section or something. Otherwise I like the energy here and the overall feel. Mostly it's the panning as Jonsolo said that could open up the sound a bit more. I really like that little arp thing that bounces around from time to time.

Simon, I enjoy this piece most when the progression is being lead by the singing lead. The synth arp is nice. Panning would be cool. I wish there was more guitar solo. Excellent, brother!

Hi Simon,

I liked the rhythm guitar sound and the background sounds. The beginning of the tune was a bit hard to catch on for some reason for me. I noticed the sound cleaned up around 3:33 - so yea - maybe some panning and fading would be cool.

Yes - lots of energy - which is cool. I think adding variation to the drums would really improve the structure and flow.

Cheers,

={> Art

PS - I hear you on the dead!!

I think the fact that this is missing some midrange energy, makes it sound very ambient.
You've done something very interesting with a drum pattern I would have great difficulty following.
I like the last 1/3 of the song best.
Bravo.
Cool
Regards,

Hi Simon

This made me sit up and listen! I like the full, positive sound of this and the really cool drum track. How did you do the drums?

Hope you get to develop this one further and put in those ideas you were having while mixing.

Regards from
Dee

Thanks guys,

I'll catch up properly with everyone next week.
Hi Dee - the drums were triggered from the keyboard, I was playing with the buttons while it was running.
Funny now, Daz also mentioned the mid range on a previous song, something else to look at.

Cheers Si

Hi My Friend...

What a full and big sound without overwhelming one...but it could use a bit more definiti0on in voice separation ...

Nice tune...easy to understand and feel the chords build around it...

The Guitar parts seem not forward enough...but are will done indeed!!

What a great tune...yes!!a bit progressive as Jon said...real nice!!!!

Regards, Johnny,..(ellll)
