1. Can i layer patches if so how many at a time ?
a) As many as you want up to 16 in [sequencer-mode].
2. Do you need any upgrades to to sample on the Korg Triton Classic ?.
a) No. but, you will need the SCSI card cause saving/loading samples from floppy is really slow.
3. What the sampling time on the stock Korg Triton Classic ?
a) Triton Classic has 64megs max capacity (four memory card slots) each memory banks will allow 5mns of recording time...if samples are stereo than time is reduce to half...so, fully max you get 20mns of samples.
3. How many patches in total on the stock model ?
a) Too many. You get 128 (form 0-127) sounds per banks A/B/C/D etc...plus there are sounds on the Triton that are not used by programs such as weird EFX used in movies, sounds from the GM file/banks, and DRUMKITS sound found only in [global-mode].
4. Does any one here sample on the Korg Triton Classic and if so how does it compare to a MPC ?.
a) I do. Triton has more tweak-ability therefore more could be done with the sampled sound to make it sound 'live' 3demesional.
***Let me know if you found this information useful and/or need more help. |

Thanks heaps BruceL for that insite, whats the sequencer like on the Triton use im really use to the MPC which im hooked on note repeat and note erase. My music production has been %100 sampled years now and id really love to learn more then 3 chords and 6 odd notes plus it if samples bonus. Are there any good DVD's of there on the Korg Triton classic especially the interface and its functions ? |

The two units compliment each other really well...
At times the Triton sequencer leave much to be desired with only 16 midi tracks...but, that's because most people don't make use of the Triton's sampling capability (myself included)...it's much easier to rely on Triton presets during song creation to get the job done.
***That's funny!...cause I just think of this while I reply to you...in [sampling-mode] one can key map (Triton calls this "indexes") similar to the MPC you can assign a different sample to EVERY key on the keyboard...each key/index/sample could have its own settings/fx/and output assignments...now, go back to your first question & think of the possibilities. |

The LE is the "light edition".....it has 20% fewer calories.
It lacks sampling, no touch screen.....it also has fewer insert effects and not as many program memory banks. The LE keybed isn't as good as the Triton Classic either. _________________ M3, Triton Classic, Radias, Motif XS, Alesis Ion |
