YES! It's smoother, more pleasing and it's a gorgeous sound! I've got an OASYS which is the ONLY keyboard Korg made that sounded BETTER than a Trinity. The Triton made HUGE improvements, but the loss is sound quality in comparison to a Trinity is even bigger. They cut too many corners in terms of sound quality and that is REALLY sad.

will a tr-rack satisfy my trinity desire?

A tr-rack will satisfy your trinity sound desire, but only will your ears be endulged. You see, the Trinity satisfies all three senses. TOUCH< HEAR and SEE.
Awsome Feel,
Awsome sounds,
Awsome Look

Thats why its a TRINITY Surprised

Just stumbled upon an interesting thread on the Sound On Sound forums, where the Trinity/Triton/M3/Z1 and other synths were mentioned in varying terms. These guys are known for being impartial, very straight up, calling a spade a spade. Interesting how they compared the Trinity with the later Korg workstations. Have a read:-

Seconded. I get hundreds of hits a month on my ste from people checking the FAQ.

Personally, I think the Trinity is superb for the detailed high-frequency content... it's just beautifully detailed and delicate.

C'man Guys,Be Realistic,
1)Do you guys love the slow changing screen on the trinity???
2)8 Mb sram is so little,
3)The trinity is good on sound, but in the studio only,,,Live is not that good ,The sounds are so soft.
4)Buy a Trinity Rack for the sounds only $200-$250 Here in the USA,,,Get a Triton Extreme, that one is Fast, agressive and sharp, and you will no longer miss the Trinity.
I have had the Trinity for almost 5 years,SOLD IT, got a triton extreme and I am glad I did,Give it a try!!!!

We love it all except for the sound being soft because we would then turn the volume up Laughing
Ofcourse technically it is not up to the current demands anymore.

The touch screen is not a problem, respond in 800ms rather than in 200ms like newer Triton for me is tolerable.
8MB but not volatile, which is not bad, and nearly impossibile to find in any other workstation sampler.
I've always use my Trinity live, and all listeners have always sayed that I had killer sounds...
The Tr-rack version is good, too, but as an owner of both keybed and rack versions, I would vote for the keyb one; maybe you can't understand, but the Trinity gives you incredible feelings...

Regards

Trinity sounds so good, that people don't pay attention to things like slow screen.
btw, i have tr-rack, but i might get a trinity instead. tr-rack is made a little dumb: no scroll wheel, no card slot to save data. I wish that korg would re-realease the tr-rack but with larger screen, scroll wheel, usb port and vsti editor

Just be aware that the TR-Rack has an extra 8mb of raw multisample/waveform data over the standard Trinity keyboard. If you load any songs you've done on the TR-Rack into a standard Trinity keyboard some of the waveforms/multisamples may be wrongly referenced to non-existent ones.

Also the TR-Rack has an extra two banks of storage for both Program and Combis (A, B, C, and D). On the Trinity you only have banks A and B for both Programs and Combis (unless the PBS-TRI board is installed). Leads me to believe the TR-Rack actually has a PBS board pre-installed, but Korg don't allow you to modify the data on it (due to not having a floppy drive or SCSI connection), unlike the PBS for the keyboard version.

The waveform differences between the TR-Rack and Trinity are posted below:

John01W wrote:
Trinity Keyboard has 374 Multisamples and 258 Drum samples.

The Trinity TR-Rack Module has 414 Multisamples and 458 Drum Samples.

There are 39 more Multisample and 200 more Drum samples in the Trinity Rack than in the standard Trinity keyboard.

The TR-Rack has the exact same ROM and effects, same capabilities of the keyboard version plus 8 megs of additional sounds from the best of the PBS-TRI libraries that Korg released. It's like you get a PBS-Tri built in with the best sounds korg released for it and double the storage. Nice to have those sounds built into ROM.

The TR-Rack also has double the storage of the keyboard version (4 banks of 128 combis a 4 banks of 128 for the progs). The TR-Rack samples are the same up to multisamples 374 and drum samples 258. Hence, why they called it expanded access module.

I have checked and the ROM samples for the TR-Rack and the Trinity are the same until the new numbers start. The new multisamples start at 375 and 259.
