Ok here I go again featuring a different vocalist. Actually the vocalist is my co-conspirator from my group The Conspiracy. We did an album together back in 2002.
Recently we began putting together a few new tracks. This is the latest collaboration between us. The vocals were recorded where he is with a raw piano track which I took and worked around (because he is not an engineer and has limited recording knowledge). We will likely get together soon to drop the vocals here in my studio along with my backup parts.
But I wanted to share the work in progress. It is called Afraid.

I posted this now because I am about to post the next Jon Solo (solo, ha) piece next week for September, but needed to get August in and get some comments rolling before we complete recording.

I don't know why, but I got some Elton John feelings...
It reminds me his style, which is so great
As always, the overall quality is amazing, considering that's it's a "working progress" song...
Very good sound, I liked a lot the way you described in music, with notes, the "Maybe I'm afraid" feeling.

This is really a beautiful song, the vocal is just fabulous and I can't find a nit anywhere except the drums toward the end seem a bit outside the spectrum of the rest of the music, but that may be my headphones. I just love all the different sounds here, the piano and other accent instruments are all just excellent, everything really lends itself to an emotional experience that really comes together. This is really a great song. _________________ George Nelson is 2loose

Thanks for the input. By the time we are done, it is likely that every track will be recorded over again. I view this as very demo-ish. The singer is Jeff Price. He'll be glad to hear you like it.
I have a Conspiracy page at Soundclick but only have one older song loaded there. Hopefully this will eventually be a second project for the two of us together. He is a little darker lyricist than I am. Therefore the way we write together is he does lyrics after I do the music and melody.
Thanks for the feedback. Glad you liked the song. _________________ Jon Solo

He certainly can sing - he's got a excellent voice! I really like his inflections - very nice refined singing
And hey - one can hear the bass line - that is always cool! I did think the bass was a bit stiff during the verses. Not a big deal, but the vocals and solo are much more tasty in performance.
This is a serious tune. I can't believe your going to re-record it. Man you are a perfectionist! _________________ Care for a jelly baby?

Its a very nice, melancholic song. I like it all, the vocals, the arrangement and the recording. Its serious stuff. I'm not too familiar with your professional background - have you already signed a contract with a label? |

Minor descending....Very nice....
Good lyrics indeed!!! And a kind of little blues sound as well...The bass line is great to me at least....
Expression in the vocal is well done as well!!! Good Singer!!
The whole thing covers a sad and disparate feel about love that is much stronger than, for example a few of us, using the idea, but with major key harmony........
The guitar line is spot on too!!!
Well, this is just good in many ways....rhythmic elements are strong and solid..
Always comes out from you it seems to me....Well DONE indeed....
Thanks!!! John...(ellll) |

Jeff is quite an accomplished singer and percussionist. He has a lot of control.
Sewa I was in a contract for five years which began in 1999 but was breached by one of the managers representing Solosounds in 2000. Fortunately all I lost was money. Better than being held over balcony by Suge Knight eh?
Yea I got some issues with the whole thing and will redo it shortly. Jeff and I, along with another partner have written about 3 songs for the new project.

What a fabulous voice, I'm getting a Robbie Williams Vibe here, both from the song itself and the vocals.
This has been looping for a while now, and it sounds so familiar already.
Great work both. _________________ Chordial |

Hi Jon
Another beautiful song! How do you manage it every time!!??
Pass on compliments to the singer too - very good vocals here, with a full deep warmth in the lower registers and effortless highs. The doubling of the opening melody - is it guitar and violin - I love this sound and the ever-weaving violin song in the background. I would use strings or plucked acoustic guitar for the instrumental instead of lead guitar, but that's just soppy old me, so take no notice
This is just excellent.... what more can I say..
Regards from
Dee |
