Okay guys.. I'm in the states and will be going to a Memorial Day sale to pick up a mixer. Any recommendations? Ideally, it's under 200-250, and has USB for interfacing with a DAW. This isn't required, but would be very handy for Logic.
I looked at a nice Yamaha mixer with effects, but I don't know if I would need the external effects like that.. but I suppose it could be handy like normal outboard effects gear.
What are your thoughts, guys? _________________ -jojo

I wish I could help ya but, the cheapest mixer I'm looking at is $2000.
Maybe the Mackie 1202 VLZ3 might be a good mixer but I don't think it has a usb or firewire interface. _________________ We came.

In that price tag I guess you can look to some Behringer stuff, but as always, good for starting and good price/performance ratio, but it has nothing to do with good/high quality hardware.
Mackie are great, I know M-Audio is selling some good usb/firewire mixers, Phonic and Edirol have mid quality products, too.

I've been wondering if i need a small four channel mixer for gigs. My band uses two computers running ableton. We use a fast track pro and MOTU ultralite. We run the fast track through the ultralite, and output everything through it (MOTU).
What would the beneifts of using a analog mixer for live shows be? Would it be better to run both soundcards through the mixer? Is the motu's software good enough to act as a mixer?
Thanks for any suggestions _________________ zuri

MOTU Software IS good enough to be used as a mixer.
I used a lot my Traveler as a mixer during live gigs, and the only thing I missed (that MOTU putted in their new mkIII line) is an EQ for every channel...
That's why I love Mackie Onyx series...But to be honest I would never change my Traveler with nothing, I find it simply perfect for my needs, both live and studio.

i think the best mixer is Korg Zero Mixer series.
Zero-4 has mixes 4, and Zero-8 mixes 8
Can be both audio and digital interfaces.
Price a little expensive, but you will not be disappointed. |
