Hello all,
I am a new member to this forum and also a new potential KORG owner as the only keyboard i've ever had is a Roland JV35 (which I dont realy like at all)
I have come across someone selling a Korg I30
I just wanted to find out your thoughts on this workstation, what is it worth these days, reliability as it is approx 10 years old now I beleive??
any pro's and con's anyone might have on it.....
how well does the arranger work??
any great features it has??
eg. could I connect my roland to it via MIDI and play sounds from the korg on it??
all help is greatly appreciated!! |

Hi fulock
If you manage to find one, let me know and I will send you lots of extra styles and sounds for it...
It is a superb keyboard - wish I had kept mine!!!
Cheers

Amen to that. So much so that I've decided I'm going to continue using my i30 on gigs and probably keeping my Pa1XPro just to play in the house (I'm thinking Pete might not be overly surprised by that.)
The i30, while lacking some of the newer features, sounds and styles of current models, but certainly no slouch, is certainly simpler and more elegant and, in the gig situation, a lot quicker to get around on.
Here's a link to a site which, while no longer active, still contains a whole bunch of knowledge, some contributed by Pete, plus links to many related sites on the i30. Good luck.

As you know, many variables come into play with that question. General condition, hard drive model or not, what market you're in, gigged hard or just sat in someone's den. I guess your own desire level plays a large part, too. |

yeah I agree with you 100%!!!
any chance of getting a ball park figure as i'm a newbie to Korg's??
I know its been gigged a fair bit, I've been told its been looked after very well never the less...
I dont think its the hard drive model, but will find out.... i'll be checkin it out in the next day or two....
as its a 10 year old model.... 'approximately' what would I expect to pay for it?? $700 - $1000?? more? less?
thankyou for your help so far.... really appreciate it!!! |

If you find one in good condition, just get it!!! I can't imagine you will have to pay too much now as Giner says it's 10 years old.
I also have all the OS upgrades if you need them...
Good luck, let us know how you go...

I've got to echo Pete here - just get it.
And Pete is a man of his word. He has helped me and many others over the years, and continues to do so. |

thankyou heaps for your responses everyone.
I have little time to make a decision on purchasing it but have heaps of question's i'd like to know the answers to..... if I could just pick your brains with few of them....??
I have a few friends who own Korg Tritons and they have some awsome sampled Bagpipe and Guerini Pianno Accordion sounds that they play with... am I able to load these sounds to use on the I30??
Also, whats it like for live performance use...?? for example, can I assign certain buttons to instantly select certain sounds so I can quickly flick from one to another while performing a song rather than scrolling through the touchscreen menu to find the sound each time I want to change??
Thankyou in advance and sorry for writting an essay. |

The i30 is an amazing piece of kit - I bought mine in 1999 and it still ranks as one of the most usable live performance keyboards in my opinion.
Coupled with the EC5 foot pedal, this thing is unstoppable. I've heard some users of the subsequent more advanced models such as the PA1x etc also hail the i30 as a lot more fluid when it comes to live performances.
As for price - If I was on the market for one I'd willing pay £500 but because it's now discontinued it's open season on pricing... I've seen some sell recently for as little as £250 and as much as £900. |

Some notes keep playing after I release them. Do you know this problem? If bad contacts, how to open and clean them?
