Hi all,
I just thought I'd start a thread about this amazing Audio App.
I've only begun to use it and have very limited experience of it - but I'm very impressed so far.
One of the major things about this package is that there are 2 licenses available -
One for commercial use and one for personal use - but more amazingly - is that you can download and use the entire app - without any demo disablements for - well - as long as you might though they ask you to buy a license after 30 days use.
The personal use license is around 29 euro.
Thats an amazing price for what this app does.
It also - at least its what I think it does - RENDERS stereo mixes digitally - so if your sound card ain't great - that will help.
The effects suite is awesome and the latency level is about the best I've seen for my non-pro system...
Anybody else have any user experience of Reaper?
Peace
Ausser. _________________ Will we march only to the music of time...?

I just started using it last week. All I can say is WOW. This program is incredible.
In combination with NI Komplete 6, Reaper makes me (almost) not want to go back to Reason (and those who know me know what that means!).
The license is $60 (for a "noncommercial" user - which, according to the site, constitutes anyone making less than $20,000 (USD) per year from their music). So far I've never made a penny from my music, so this is a good fit. If I ever do make more than $20,000 with it in a single year, I can probably afford to pony up the $225 for a commercial license. There is no "lite" version - the commercial and "home" systems are the same.
Sound: excellent.
Feature set: amazing (contains some 200 plugins - effects, synths, even an implementation of something very much like autotune).
Responsiveness of the UI: very. It has full support for multi-processor systems.
You can route anything pretty much anywhere. You can put midi and audio clips (of a whole bunch of different formats) on the same track. You can split samples and timestretch them (much like the Propellerheads REXX files). Actually, you can also import REXX files. It fully supports ReWire. And so on and so forth.
The pdf manual that comes with it is 400 pages long, and very thorough.
Seriously, with this program I just can't see moving to one of the "big" pro apps (Cubase, Sonar, etc.). I'm having difficulty imagining anything musical I CAN'T do with this program.
If you haven't checked this program out, do so NOW. You don't even have to buy it to check it out, because it is uncrippled, unexpiring shareware - even if you never pay for it you can use it forever (but I think the developers of the program totally deserve payment for their work). |
