I have been thinking of purchasing an electribe and what I was wondering is if I can use this as a mixer and run songs through it to remix them live for house raves and just to make tracks to upload online. The other reason why I want this machine is because I want to use it to produce sounds to go along with my R3 synthesizer. So the question is, can the electribe be used to mix and add effects to songs that I run through it?

The EMX has a mono input so you can add an external input to play along with the internal synths and drum samples, but it's not a mixer nor a sampler.

You can add effects to audio supplied to the line in, but its more orientated around perhaps plugging a guitar in or a mic, not full tracks. Like Yatamandu said, any audio run through the machine is also reduced to mono.

I wouldnt buy it for that purpose. It is an excellent machine for making your own synth/drum patterns or as a midi controller/sequencer (you could also control your other synth with it using midi)

I think you would be better of with a Kaoss pad 3 for what your trying to do with the audio, i wouldnt buy an electribe EMX if thats your primary reason for it.
But if your primary reason is for the synths and sequencer capabilities then its a good machine.

If your using multiple devices you should always really have a mixer, like a 4 channel mixer, rather than try to route the audio through all your devices.

Good luck!

The word Rave still seems to be used a lot in the states, in the UK we dont really use it ever. it brings up to many images of 80's clubbers chewing there heads off flinging themselves around with glowsticks. The music being little more that an extremely loud kick drum 4 to the floor beat.

I'm from the states and it was falling out of style when I was getting IN to the 'scene'...and that was almost 15 years ago.

I just mean i hear a lot of americans saying rave interchangeably with dance events or clubbing, or whatever. But i dont hear that word used much here unless its being used to refer to the old school days.

Yeah I come across that sometimes too, and generally someone calling a party or anything a 'rave' doesn't know WTF they're talking about. Raves died when they started renting out amphitheatres and selling tickets on ticketmaster. lol
