Piano Improvisation No. 2 generated a surprising level of immediate interest. So I am posting the link to Piano Improvisation No. 1, which is also placed for the time being with "The Common Man" collection at the bottom of this page:

These improvisations were recorded the same night and were completely spontaneous and unrehearsed. There was no preconceived melody or chord progression or key or beat.
I used the 3 Way Concert Grand sound with both room reverb and O reverb. Nothing else. I turned off the metronome to avoid distraction.

Charlie,
Thank you for that flattering comment.
Like 3.5 million others, I purchased and repeatedly listened to Keith Jarrett’s 1975 live recording, The Köln Concert. But I have not listened to that album or others by Jarrett for decades.
Another album that I liked very much at the time was Chick Corea’s Piano Improvisations Vol. 1 from 1971. Again, I have not listened to it since at least the 1980s. But when I got the impulse to record some piano improvisations a few nights back, I thought vaguely of the structure of his “Where Are You Now?: A Suite of Eight Pictures.”
Best regards,
Greg
