Can't wait for Korg to put out a Micro PS-1 sustain pedal and Micro EXP-2 Micro Expression pedal that you'll control with your thumb...

They sure are making a lot of cheesy, entry-level stuff lately.

Seriously... That will sound a bit harsh but i think MICRO Brains took over at Korg Inc. I don't recognize the company i used to love so much!! Some time ago, i really felt like i was cheating a loved one when i decided to gig with only my laptop and softsynths, but their recent products make me believe i made the right choice. At least, my controller is a Korg 01/Wpro!!

Now now everyone, it's not like there's zero use for this. Sometimes portability is necessary, and Korg wants to provide something for people who need something small.
Regardless, it would be nice if Korg focused on some new, regular or piano key products. _________________ Current: MS-20 Mini, Minilogue, SY77

Well another point is that volume sales come from cheaper, smaller products (that have quality sounds / pedigree) and that's all the majority of younger musicians can afford.
Korg is a business and need to make profit. They're not in micro-mind - they're in volume-mind.
And let's face it, I've seen some amazing things done on Youtube with just a KP - great creativity for £200!
The big boys of the range will get their attention in time. I find that patience pays in such matters... _________________ Plugged in: Fantom 8, Jupiter-X, Jupiter 80, System-8, JD-XA, V-Synth GTv2, FA-06, SE-02, JU-06A, TR-09, VT-4, Go:Livecast, Rubix44, Shure SM7b, Push2, Ableton 11 Suite, Sibelius, KRK Rokit 5, |

"What is this? Center for ants?!! How can we be expected to teach children how to read... if they can't even fit inside the building?"
I gotta say, i don't see any use for this for anyone who doesn't live in a NYC efficiency apartment or isn't a character in Charlie Brown. They're other "micro" range products at least were somewhat innovative and unique. _________________ Korg Kronos-61, 01/Wfd, SONAR Pro |

It remains to be seen if a child starting on mini keys is a good idea. I'm no music teacher but i'm not sure it's such a good start. Unless the child is really young, but in that case, Casio and Fisher-Price have that market covered. If the Micro Piano is 300$ or so, as a parent, i wouldn't invest that much if my kid is 4 years-old, because if the kid stops playing after 2 months, the Micro Piano is of no use to anybody else in the house. The Casio at 79$ would be more like it. Just my way of seeing things...

Maybe it's interesting in the japanese market, but the concept is similar to the toy piano of the late-19th/early-20th century
If the sound is similar to the toy piano, could be a nice acquisition. And a great toy for kids xD.
Regards.

People made the same type of complaints when Apple got in the iPhone business. What a mistake THAT turned out to be!
Hey, if there is a market for it and they can make a profit selling it, I say go for it. They can sell vegetable choppers and Ginsu knives for all I care as long as they are around to make my next workstation.

Actually I don't mind it, so long as the price was right. I like bigger keys a bit better, but small ones don't actually annoy me that much. I move a lot, and small stuff is handy - suits me, I'm just not that into digital pianos (though that new one that Korg brought out IS really good.) |
