And ssds aren't problematic at all in terms of reliability or fail easily. Very reliable and fast technology.

Exactly. SSDs are in fact a lot more durable than traditional hard drives. And they SHINE when using DFD!

Korg did a brilliant move, so kday, please stop trolling.

Flash Ram is far superior to SSD hard drives.

SSD IS a chunk of flash RAM with an HDD connector attached. It's essentially what "solid state" means, that it uses flash RAM as data storage.

Yeah, but he's not talking about the tech term "flash ram", rather the way "Flash RAM" options can be used on a synth - for example PC3K8 or Motif. It's a cool, but long-term-wise stupid option as it's severely capacity-limited and much less versatile then having a DFD-capable SSD.

That being said - Kronos obviously streams its built-in samples from the SSD, we could gather as much from the presentations. But there seems to be some conflicting information about users being able to stream their samples from SSD using DFD. If that's impossible to do, then I would say it's a "letdown" thing. I can understand WHY that KORG wouldn't want users to do that as it would require some work, but it would also be very uncool not to have this as an option.

To cut the long story short, if users need to LOAD their samples with the keyboard (either during boot time via KSC file or after they boot the system via KSC file(s)) in the memory, that's just not all that good. Samples need to be streamed from the drive, not loaded in the memory, because only then the question of "only 273MB" (or whatever) of free memory becomes a moot point and SSD/DFD make sense.
