What are your thoughts?

I think a Mac with MIDI controller or a keyboard from Musiccomputing loaded with plugins from East West, Omnisphere, Trillian, Stylus RMX, Rob Papen stuff, Musiclab real guitar or strat, Korg Legacy Wink will eat the Kronos for breakfast.

Take that on stage and say hello to non-seamless non-realtime patch changes, CPU drainage like you've never seen before, and in case of too many voices needed to be streamed, buffer dropouts and clicks! Laughing

It will be interesting to see if MusicComputing can manage to do better than OpenLabs given MusicComputng's lower prices.

It will also be interesting to see how well the MusicComputing's dockstation keyboard does in the marketplace. It will probably depend on how well MC can provide an integrated experience between the controllers and multiple VST plugins.

Also, some of the VST plugins you mentioned use a lot of computer system resources, so that can be a challenge if you want to play them all together like a traditional workstation "combi".

I still expect the vast majority of gigging keyboardists to use products from the Big 3.

Well i guess VSTs are still rule the World with the sound quality.
I am speaking about the Top quality VSTs

but deffinatly Korg wanted to bring Kronos clouse to VST, ulike idiots from Yamaha, Roland, Kurzweil who still gives us 90s old compressed sample playback technology.

I am pretty shure thay planed to use it atlist for next 10 years or more if Korg would not come up with Kronos.

So speking baout Kronos i would say it depend what kind of VST to compare.

If to speak about Pipe Organs like Haupwerk offers,no one even came clouse to the sound quality, possibilities and realism that thay offer

but if to speak about analog stuff and acoustic pianos and electric pianos, i guess Korg Kronos should be very competiable to hight quality VSTs..

but don't forget that with Kronos u have all that stuff in one synth so it is possible to Kombain all them to creat some very unusual sounds...

Sennheiser Hd800?Wow Very Happy
A new height of sonic perspective as you experience a high-fidelity natural hearing experience.
Ok but for example, you plug in the headphone direct in the kronos.
Is it still the effort to use the HD 800?Or a smaller one is good enough?

Macalister, a znaci tako jeli...samo po komentima sam odma skontao da si
Balkanac i naravno, zna se kakvi smo mi...sramota sto zivimo na ovu Zemlju.

Ignore this guy, its already figured it out...i am ashamed to be from where
he is too (Balkans)...it is in our blood, when we cant have something or if
something is better then what we have we just simply attack it out of jelaousy.

And why is Tritonlover Glup(Stupid)? Cuz he is right? With all the love for
Korg you really think Kronos can do something what a computer can or
you are just dreaming? Can someone really compare Kronos to a 2000$
only Soundcard? Apogee converters? I7 Quad Cores? 500GBs libries?
Do some calculation and lets see who is Glup!

Is it also central asian/balkan characteristic to be rude and call ppl names? sorry mate...i aint' stupid. i just asked. gigabytes of sound libraries does not necessarily mean quality. there are many software sound libraries that have terabytes but sound horrible.

if korg can make good use of 30gb ssd and program them well, i am all for it.

I think Musiccomputing is Victor Wong strikes back take 2..

Victor Wong is one of the few innovative people in the music buiseness, a creative brain, but not a buisnessman.. Some of the stuff for Openlabs was really brilliant, like the D-beat and RIff.

The lower price of these new systems opens up a whole other market, the market of home users and amateur musicians that can afford these units at these lower prices...

But i guess he is making the same mistake again as with Openlabs.... to many products... (production stations, touchscreen based systems, macbook Pro docks, HArdware DAWS)

He should concentrate on one or two products, and only when they are succesfull develop more products.. HE should have concentrated on something people can use in addition to a MAsterkeyboard/Stage piano/synth/workstation)

He should have created a touchscreen solution (24 or 27") with the controll parts from the production station added to that... A big unit with sliders/knobs(left)touchscreen(middle)drumpad/matrix(right)... people could just set it up standing behind their Kronos controlling the best of both worlds..

And thats the answer to OP's orriginal question... Workstations and software sollutions make the perfect combo, espescially in combination with (large) touchscreens...
