I could not keep my Tyros as it was so so so frustrating to "perform" with. I found the OS and screen organisation to be unusable for performing. I liked the SA2 but also didn't like the lack of control with some of them - hated the lack of control over FILLs, the absence of Bass inversion instant control, no tempo lock for switching from one style to another, also no "CVs" for chord types, highly repetitive style variations (short measure length) ...and more...

Hi Pete, I am a multi keyboard person much like a lot of Users on this Forum and have an open mind. I have Tyros 3 and pa in my Studio and love them both but they are massively different and the OS on Korg is far more complex than on the Tyros. The sounds on Tyros 3 knock pa for 6 and the styles aren't as complex as you have said. The editing facilities are bad as compared to pa also. Now to a few points you mentioned to put the record straight as it were.
You can change to on bass very quickly by just pressing one button. To do this means a very simple registration of 2 buttons of the 8. Select one for fingered and the other for on bass.
Tempo lock. This can be done very easily in the menu's and once set stays as it is. Simply by pressing the keyboard Function button and then 'Style setting/split point/chord' fingering button and change the 'Tempo' to 'Hold'
Fills. The Yamaha styles have 'fills' built in to the variations and if you want to play an extra fill then by pressing the current variation button a fill will occur. Not the same or as flexible as pa I know but at least functional.
On a Registration Bank you can put all manner of 'Functions' and not just song Data so that is where that is very useful...
The point is that there are many hidden functions on Tyros and that is where we have to know as much about the OS as possible to get the best from a keyboard. Just my opinions of course.
Another good point, not good but great, is that on Tyros you have the capability of adding 1 Gig of Sample Memory whereas on pa that's 128mb and with expansion only 256mb - the same on pa3x. No upgrade there and very obviously disregarded.
Just putting the record straight here Pete and I know this is the Korg Forum but my foot is in both camps and I will state my point about Korg pa on the Yamaha Forums. As well as my korgpa site I also have a Tyros oriented website as well
Here Just for information. _________________ Regards, Keith [pa1000]

Kinda disappointed when i heard about the pa3x. i couldn't believe what i was hearing when a friend told me that the ram is only 256 max.
Only good thing for me so far is the 4 fill in and the loop record function. Now i can play the guitar without pressing chords, that's pretty genius. (might be the only reason i might considering buying this one)
But to expensive. I use the korg series for it's functionality, but never use the internal sounds. I always sample my own sounds and therefor i need more ram. Korg should have put at least 1 ggb of ram in it.
something else that is bothering me is the fact we have to put an extra 128 ram card into it. These things cost nothing. Korg should stop making money on everything and should start giving us more satisfaction. It knows it got loyal customers. Half of them come from the middle east. |

I read somewhere they are usng a new lossless compression on the RAM...so we actually get 512 with the PA3 upgrade.

Yes, to your information I know a guy who have tested this on pa3x. He used samples that were 80 mb on pa2x, when he loaded it into pa3x it became 40 mb!
No loss of quality either when he tested it!

Now that's good news, half a Gig is better than a quarter Gig for sure _________________ Regards, Keith [pa1000]

What they did is to use lossless compression, rather that give us 1 GB RAM or more (which they should have)...that way they did not need to produce any new hardware.
They can just sell us the old 256 boards.

that is probably to compensate for loading time. does anyone know the price for the extra 128 ram? I think it will be ridiculously high. |

Yes this is to compensate for the loading time.
It is the same ram card as we use in pa2x pro, it costs ca. 157,39 USD/113,92 EUR for the EXB-256M.

Nedim Abi, Most of the stuff and things like quarter tone beginned in Turkey!
There is many other thing we can talk about, like more ram, for 800, And so, KORG knows that There is nothing that can be STOPPED There,
If they will thay can fix, So thats why.
Also i,m pissed , Couse Here we did not heave so many info, First pictures are from BULGARIA, Next ISTANBUL, Thats strange for me abi!
Anyway, If the KB dosnt gime me what i need, I go for T4.
Better sounds anyway! 1 GB RAM, No loading time, And a great Unit!
So hope KORG Wakes UP, From the dream, And Opens the next Chapter, Like they always say, _________________ www.globalsound.se
