|
|
| After installing the PX5D Korg MIDI device drivers (OS is windows 7) other applications which used the ms wavetable synth or midi mapper now unable to play - no sound - and wavetable and midi mapper are no longer available as options. Other users seem to have a similar problem. Can you advise what is the best way to get back the wavetable to work for the other programs while making the Pandora work too. This problem also affects midi being played through my windows media player.....very irritating to say the least. |

| Run the UnInstDrv.exe app (or UnInstDrv65.exe if running the x64 version of Windows). This will show you which midi drivers that are installed. Windows only supports 10, so all the drivers you want to use must be in slots midi0 through midi9. This app lets you remove drivers to make way for other ones. |

Sorry, typo there. It should be UnInstDrv64.exe located in the Korg USB-midi driver folder, under Program Files > Korg. |

| Thx xlmguy. I'll check it out. I uninstalled all the korg drivers and editor and will have to reinstall them to use that file. Even when I uninstalled everything, I could not get back the wavetable file but I know it is still there in the windows folder. Back to the grind....and I thought pro tools and the 11 rack were hard to install, but this beats them back by miles. |

| ok, tried the suggestion but the situation is the same...no sound. However, when I plug in the Pandora now, the other applications that had nothing in their midi section before are now showing Midi Mapper and the Pandora as two options midi out options. But I am still not getting any sound to play from those applications. |

| Pandora doesn't make any "sound to play", so I'm not sure about what you're expecting it to do, nor how you are testing anything. Please describe in more detail what you are trying to do and how you are trying it. You have to hook something to the audio outputs of the Pandora to hear what it does. None of the audio goes across the USB-midi connection. |

I don't have a problem with Pandora. It works on my computer and the sound editor is fine. The problem is the non-Korg applications that used to work with gs wavetable and midi mapper before I installed any korg drivers. Those other applications are not related to pandora or korg and worked fine before. Even my ms media player worked fine before. Now, I cannot play a midi file off the internet through my windows media player. I now have to use quicktime to play the internet files, which is not the best option.
Once the korg drivers were installed, I 'lost' gs wavetable and midi mapper functionality for those other applications. They are playing but I cannot get a sound out of them. When I check the midi section of those applications they are blank - no gs wavetable - but when I plug in the Pandora, I suddenly find there are two midi options in those applications, the Pandora and midi mapper. Quite simply, gs wavetable and midi mapper disappear and cannot be used or found after installation of the korg drivers. To compound matters, I am not too program literate to know what I have to do to get it resolved. |

Have you downloaded and updated to the latest:
flash bios for your motherboard
drivers for the chipset on your motherboard
drivers for the sound chip on your motherboard |

I installed all the latest drivers. This Korg driver just seems incompatible with the windows drivers. If I roll back to my original audio drivers, my non Korg applications and windows media player work fine. As soon as I plug in the pandora, they stop working and the gs wavetable driver disappears. I can't keep rolling back to the original drivers each time I need to use the non Korg applications.
When I use the uninst64 utility, there are only ten slots showing up with pandora occuping two of them I am not seeing any more slots outside the 10. This is the first time I am experiencing so much trouble with a product. |

Sorry to hear of the problem. Yes, it sounds like a bug of some kind. You said you installed the latest drivers, but you didn't say if you updated the flash bios. A good driver can fail if an underlying bug exists in the firmware. That's why you need to update the flash before updating the drivers.
What are you using the PX5D for? You posted in the X-50/microX section, so I'm guessing that you're trying to use it with a keyboard, right? If so, have you explored all the effects you already have inside the synth? |

Yep, I updated the BIOS prior to the other drivers. The strange thing is that I had the applications open and they were working fine even after I plugged in the Pandora, but as soon as I quit the applications and then re-opened them, the same problem came back, so I figured there might be a way to have them run at the same time as Pandora. Doing a search on the internet, it seems to be quite a common problem for a number of people.
I think I might have posted this in the wrong section. Sorry about that, but I use the Pandora for guitar and mainly for travelling purposes. I guess I can get by without playing it through my laptop or PC but the editor works really nicely and is a breeze to use. The only real pain in the butt is this driver issue because I need the non Korg applications to work as well. And putting out $200 for an issue that seems so difficult to resolve is not my idea of money well spent, frustration aside. |
