| I have a MPC5K and am trying to hook the MicroKorg to it. I cant get the sounds on the Korg to save on the MPC. Im using the headphone jack on the mpc to hear the project. But the MPC makes the Korg follow its programs. So the korg plays what the mpc has loaded on its pads. But if i take the headphone jak out and plug into Korg its playing its own sounds but will record sample of what the mpc has on its pads instead of what im hearing. and i also cant get the korg to sync for the recording process of the sequence. I think i have tried everything i can think of. If anyone has any ideas at all i would like to hear them. Thanks. Drew |

Hmm Im gonna assume that you are trying to not just control the MPC through the microkorg via midi, but also want to sample the microkorg into the MPC for pad use?
Okay if im gonna assume that, even though ive never used an MPC, i would think that first off, both would need to be in a different midi channel, to prevent them sonicly playing at once. So you can have a program on your microkorg that plays on midi channel 2 for example, wich is what your MPC is set to, and the microkorg will not sound.
So my connections would be:
MK channel 1 Midi out - MPC Channel 2
Audio Output from MK to MPC
and if i wanted to use sounds sampled in the MPC through microkorg.
make a program (patch, setup, whatever you wanna call it) with midi being transmitted on channel two, and having its internal sounds off (turning the OSC's all the way down)
If i wanted to use the MPC to play microkorg sounds, then i would directly sample it through audio. im sure you know how to do that.
Also, see if your MPC has an Audio through feature, like having the audio input into the MPC always running through the main outputs whether sampling or not.
hope that helps? _________________

The problem seems to be that you don't understand how MPC5K and MK work on their own, much less together. I suggest that you simplify the scenario to learn how each one works, one step at a time.
For example, on the MPC, figure out how to samply anything you play from the microkorg to a pad, so that you can play back the sample by hitting the pad. Don't use midi connections at all. Just hook the L+R audio outputs of the MK to the audio inputs of the MPC. |
