In some posts you can see very long links, which
make the posts difficult to read on the screen
(need to shift from left to right and from right
to left at each line).

Here's how to avoid this : instead of pasting the
link into the post *directly*, past it between [url]
tags like this :

[url=paste link here]put text to display here[/url]

example:
Read the excellent Sound on Sound 'Synth school'
and 'Synth secrets' articles!

instead of:
Read the excellent Sound on Sound 'Synth school' and 'Synth secretsl' articles:
http://www.soundonsound.com/search?url=%2Fsearch&Keyword=synth+school&Year=+&Month=+&Words=All&Summary=No&ShowResults=yes&Keyword=%22synth+school%22&Year=+&Month=+&Words=All&Summary=No&Section=0&Subject=0&ShowResults=yes
http://www.soundonsound.com/search?url=%2Fsearch&Keyword=&Year=+&Month=+&Words=All&Summary=No&ShowResults=yes&Keyword=%22synth+secrets%22&Year=+&Month=+&Words=All&Summary=No&Section=0&Subject=0&ShowResults=yes

Personally I already knew this, but I think its great that you've gone to the effort to tell other people.
Thanks

I'm new here and didn't know how to do this - so thanks EXer for the post.
It didn't seem like this was in the FAQ - this is probably something good to add there.

Another tip, instead of posting "listen to the piano at 1:30 in this video" add #t=1m30s to the end of the youtube link and playback will start right where you want it to.

Now, that I didn't know. Nice tip!

I have to tell you, in longer posts, I sometimes don't use the [url] tags on purpose, because people tend to skim paragraphs or body of text in long threads. They may miss my video link.

I've also had people use my own "midnightsunent.com" links to make a point to me, without realizing I was the one who posted the link. In that case, I like spell it out to reveal the website source of the link. I like having the option of doing it both ways.

Definitely a good post for people who don't know.
