So like many others, I just picked up this amazing app. I'm completely ignorant to the concept of a synthesizer. I would like to create a song from scratch but I don't see that option. Do I have to start with a pre made template? If so, how do I clear all the notes? I was able to eliminate the drums but it still generates a single note that repeats at the start of every cycle.
I hope I'm making sense here. Just want to turn that synth note off and start from scratch.
-Cheers! |

Go to the sequencer and you will see the synth controls for all 16 steps - the gate knob for the first step needs to be turned down , therefore turning off that first note . I only got the app yesterday and that took me a little while to figure out too lol _________________ Amateur Loop Fiddler . www.soundcloud.com/loopingstar |

Quick way to clear the synth part: first, switch to the Kaoss Pad controller. Now, hold the right Kaoss Pad (which controls the notes being played) at the very bottom left of the pad and press record. Continue holding the bottom left position for the duration of the pattern and the synth part will clear.
Side note: Re-working templates is a hell of a lot easier than starting from scratch! It doesn't take much tinkering to get something completely new. Any given template will have 9 different patterns, find one you fancy and change it up - I usually start with changing the tempo, clearing the synth part, then tweaking the drum sounds and master effects. After that I'll go back in and add a new synth part. Then I'll copy that pattern to other pattern banks and re-tweak. Much easier for me to get something flowing this way - hope this philosophy helps! _________________ KORG Electribe 2, Volca Keys, Volca Sample, Gadget |

How strange that you can't start a song from scratch and you have to record blank segments just to clear drums and synths. Baffling. _________________ www.soundclick.com/honeycroft |

Thanks for the input folks. I think I'm starting to understand how the flow works, I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't stealing someone else's music. |

I believe it is pretty straightforward to clear a song and/or a pattern. Select "song/ptn" in the Components section at the top of the IMS-20 program. In the upper right corner you will see the "utility" button lit. Select it. A popout will allow you to clear the current song and/or pattern.
Hope this helps |
