First Kronos UK Public Showing Mid June

Post by Tony White »

Just a quick email to let everybody know that Korg UK should be showing the Kronos at Bonners Music Superstore for a weekend mid June.

I'll be in a position to post confirmed dates next week.

Confirmed prices and availability are on Bonners website.

Thanks for the news Tony.

Unfortunately bit too far to come for the demo.

The confirmed prices feel a little too high for me - I suppose these are RRPs rather than the super deal you would give us if we placed an order.

Private mail me with your best offer and you may be able to beat DV in Cambridge (I can keep a secret).

The rrps are quite a bit higher than the prices on the bonners site and there giving away free speakers too:

"anyone who pre-orders a Kronos and pays the £200 deposit before 20th June 2011, we are giving away a FREE PAIR of Behringer Truth 2031A active studio monitor speakers. No strings, no catch. Just an unbeatable offer for early bird customers"

Dont want monitors already got them (so effectively I would be paying a couple of hundred quid over the odds for something I have no use for).

I do not think it works that way. Firstly, the give-a-way is an incentive to place a pre-order, which only costs the retailer what THEY paid for them, not the RRP.

Secondly, if you do not require them you can sell them on and pocket that money as a discount on the price paid.

True, but did you see the thread about the Japanese guy who got his Kronos 61 for the equivalent of £1,740 ($2784) - the Bonners price is currently £2,599 (that is 49% hike) - I have a feeling they may have a few % to play with. Yes we have higher VAT, import tax, cost of rocket fuel etc., but 49% more is steep.

This is going to cause all sorts of discussions, but we like controversy...

But - it is really good that a reseller has given us an indication of the price (even thought it feels a little steep) - even though I could resell the monitors.

I read somewhere, if I remember correctly, that VAT in Japan is 5% compared to our 20%. Add to that import duty and shipping and the cost starts to mount.

I have pre-ordered a K88 from Bonners and they did say if the price was higher they would honor thier price and if lower they would charge the lower price. That seemed fair to me.

Obviously, different retailers will be trying to undercut others but if the units are hard to come by then I do not think we will be in a good bargaining position. Later maybe.

Respect your answer - I have always said ( and sorry for boring you all) I am prepared to shop around for the best price (might be interested in a group buy - anyone want to resurrect that thread) or might wait, but if all retailers are saying £2599 and refuse to budge I will be sitting out for a while.

Scooby where are you? - heard you mention you've been offered a deal!

You rang??? 8)

I had the same deal - it's a no lose situation really.

£2600 (with £200 deposit)
Free monitors if ordered before June 30th.

IF Kronos is less than £2600, the amended price will be honoured.

IF Kronos is more than £2600, the £2600 price will be honoured.

Can't lose really.

Need to get my a$$ in gear and sort out a phone call!! (at work now, so can't  )
