1. What type of cable do I need from the Kronos to my KRK powered speakers? The speaker calls for balance (TRS) unless you use RCA. The speaker also has a input for XLR input.
I was going to use a regular 1/4" plug, but is this balanced? I thought balanced had a different tip. |

Balanced 1/4" looks like a stereo jack...
X - Pin 1
L(ive) - Pin 2
R(eturn) - Pin 3
goes to
T(ip) - Pin 2
R(ing) - Pin 3
S(leeve) - Pin 1 _________________ Yamaha SY77 & KX88, SSL Nucleus, Korg Kronos 61, Wavestation A/D, Access Virus B, Roland XP30, DeepMind12D, System 1m, V-Synth XT, Focusrite Red16Line, Unitor 8, Akai S3000 XL, Alesis Quadraverb+, Focal Shape Twins, Full fat iMac, Logic Pro X, ProTools 2021, loadsa plugins.

Confused by your answer. The Kronos has a balance mono/L and R 1/4" output and the speakers have a 1/4" balanced input. Don't I just need a 1/4" balanced cable on both ends? |

Yes, you can go 1/4" to 1/4" (your initial post states that your KRKs have XLR inputs)
I merely offered that you can make the cables (!) or go from 1/4" (stereo jack-end) to XLR.
unless of course, your KRKs have 1/4 inputs - then you're laughing. Just get some balanced cables. _________________ Yamaha SY77 & KX88, SSL Nucleus, Korg Kronos 61, Wavestation A/D, Access Virus B, Roland XP30, DeepMind12D, System 1m, V-Synth XT, Focusrite Red16Line, Unitor 8, Akai S3000 XL, Alesis Quadraverb+, Focal Shape Twins, Full fat iMac, Logic Pro X, ProTools 2021, loadsa plugins.

I do have the Rokits and could go from 1/4 to XLR. Is there any advantage in using a 1/4" TRS to XLR over a 1/4" TRS to 1/4" TRS cable? Also, is monster really better? |

No real difference, aside from the XLR connector is more rugged - do you need this in your studio??!!
TBH, never used monster cables - I make my own (and looms) with Neutrik connectors and either Mogami or VDC..... _________________ Yamaha SY77 & KX88, SSL Nucleus, Korg Kronos 61, Wavestation A/D, Access Virus B, Roland XP30, DeepMind12D, System 1m, V-Synth XT, Focusrite Red16Line, Unitor 8, Akai S3000 XL, Alesis Quadraverb+, Focal Shape Twins, Full fat iMac, Logic Pro X, ProTools 2021, loadsa plugins.

Monster is overpriced. Get Mogami, Planet Waves or Live Wire. Of course, good Mogami isn't cheap... _________________ PRAY FOR THIS PLANET!! |
