is there some editing you can do... like loading part of the SF2 file and converting it to KSC so it won't use up all your sample locations?

Jahrome,

if you look for soundfont editing, this might help:

There were plenty of free soundfonts out there, and still should be some.
Perhaps you start with smaller packages, to get an impression what works and what causes trouble?

Thanks for the info Jim. Do you know any good Mac programs?

Man... that's still lot better than 128 multisamples and 2000 samples (shared with audio phrases) limit in Fantom-G...

Jherome... one thing to note is that for stereo samples.. KRONOS would use two multisamples (L and R).... so may be you should load only mono samples for the instruments that you don't really need stereo.

That would be great if there was an option to do this. Kronos can't open SF2 files and load individual programs.

Regarding the Fantom G..you are absolutely right. But even worst is that its horrible file system makes it a challenge to get samples in the unit and a very unintuitive way to edit and create multisamples programs.

I've had similar experiences with my 128MB Emu e6400, loading sliced-beat libraries such as Liquid Grooves: the max number of samples was reached long before the max amount of memory.

I understand that it would be nice to be able to load a larger number of samples, however.

In the conversion process, Kronos coverts stereo Mo Phatt patches into 2 or more mono patches. Is it possible (now or future) to have Kronos convert a stereo SF2 patch to either a stereo HD-1 program with 2 two OSC (for L and R channels) or a mono HD-1 program with 1 OSC?

A Fantom G is not much of an example as far as sample management and file management are concerned. Even a 1998 EX5 can hold up to 1024 user waves (a 'wave' in AWM2 = a multi).
