|

Hi guys,
Can anyone help me?
I'm using a Roland EV-5 which works fine plugged direct into the SV-1. However, I need to control from my Kurzweil SP-76 on gigs. I'm getting nothing. The Kurz is sending out cc11 but nothing. What do you think the problem might be? |

are your sv-1 patches routed to cc11,
or aren't they by chance routed to cc4 ["foot control"] or cc7 ["volume"]?
Try re-routing the kurz midi out to 4 or 7
Post here the result. |

Ok, I tried changing to channel 4 and 7. This now gives me volume change with the pedal, but still no manual wah. I have tried changing the cc from the standard 11 for expression on the Kurz to cc7 for volume, just incase it was screwed around, but both cc11 and cc 7 act as volume and not expression from the Kurz.
Anything else?
Just checked. Channel 1 gives me volume too. But like I say, it does on both cc11 and cc7
I appreciate the help man |

I didn't really understand your reply ["channel"?!?]
You should try getting back to the SV-1 (I haven't got a manual here) and check how the controllers are routed.
Next, I didn't undesrtand your refence to wha.
What are you trying to do on the sv-1: lowering volume, using expression, or driving the wha?
When you plug the pedal directly in the sv-1, can you control the wha thorugh the pedal?
Is this what you want? Because that's probably got nothing to do with expression.
I think that THAT patch must have the "pedal input" set to a different midi cc that 7 or 11.
In several Korg keyboards, pedal settings [midi cc#] are combi-specific.
So, it's possibile that for some patches the pedal is routed to midi7, for others to midi 4 or even to a specific midi cc#.
Try reading in the manual if "wha filter cutoff frequency" has a specific midi cc# allocated to it [like it happens on midi-ed analogues].
It could be any odd midi cc#: often it's 74 [midi protocol "brightness"], or 102 [prophet], or God knows what.
A good way could be: plug a midi tracker [midiox?] at your sv-1 midi out, and operate the pedal on that specific patch. see what gets out of the midi out. |

I got it
When Vox manual wah is used on the SV-1 it needs the breath controller cc2 to control manual wah.
Phew! |

HI!
I CHECKED THE MANUAL FOR YOU!
THE SV1 USES MIDI CC#2 ["BREATH"] FOR DRIVING THE PEDAL WHA WHEN "VOX WHA" IS SELECTED.
TRY SENDING MIDI CC#2 [BREATH] FROM THE KURZ PEDAL OUT
AND STOP "SHOUTING", OZY, DAMN YOU!!!
What's the midi cc# for "lowercase", btw? |
