I don't suppose anyone has a May 2011 edition they would be willing to sell?
Thanks,

Nice to see two of my old hometowns in Suffolk have Korg users - hello from Chelmsford down the road!

Interesting fallingman - your OASYS 88 has serial number 1907 - that's a very high serial number and suggests that about 4000 OASYS were sold and not the commonly believed 3000.
Do you mind indicating when you acquired it?

According to the list kept at Karma-Lab, the highest SN for an OASYS 88 is 2123 and the 76-key is 1221

Thats' very interesting and may go some way towards Korg's decision to release the Kronos 73 weighted action - seemingly 76 synth-action OASYS' didn't sell too well. I would have thought more of those would have sold than the 88 note model.
Perhaps Krog have stats. that also show the SV-1 73 selling well so overall they perhaps fell it's a better bet to go with a weighted 73 key Kronos than a 76 synth action one?

Well spotted re serial # Kevin!
Am not sure but is the SV-1/73 weighted? If so, then maybe it was a cost efficiency decision. Helps keep unit cost down on both models if double the buying power is exercised. _________________ Plugged in: Fantom 8, Jupiter-X, Jupiter 80, System-8, JD-XA, V-Synth GTv2, FA-06, SE-02, JU-06A, TR-09, VT-4, Go:Livecast, Rubix44, Shure SM7b, Push2, Ableton 11 Suite, Sibelius, KRK Rokit 5, |

Think its a smart Move by Korg to make a hammer action 73...
A best of both worlds, you get the hammer type action without the added weight and cost that comes with an 88...I guess thats pleased a lot of people given the price of the Kronos.
Although I guess they would perhaps come up trumps if they made a fourth model of a 73 or 76 Note semi weighted option too.
Korg probably have done it based on past sales stats I guess not many opt for the 76/73 note models on workstations,in terms of the SV-1 between the 73 and the 88 version when I bought mine was a mere £25,some may feel that £25 is nothing and prefer to go for the larger model, but even with the compact size of the SV,I still felt the 88 was just that bit too much for my needs(plus there's something more aesthetically pleasing about the red case of the 73 and I perhaps have a fetish for Red Keyboards given the Nord lead and AX-1 in the armoury )
Oasys only had 2 models available,I opted for the 76,but would have gladly had a 61 Note,I just have no need for that extra octave so anything larger normally isn't my bag,(I suspect due to the size of top panel of the Oasys a 61 note was never going to be fabricated)the SV-1 is just right with 73 notes although would like to have seen a compact 61 version like Nord do for gigging practicalities.
I'm not a fan of Hammer action on synths, and based on Roland's decision to stop the 76 Note Fantom G yet the 61/88 are still in production would say it rings true with low demand of 76 semi weighted versions,so Korg have kind of dangled a carrot in front of people with the 73 RH3 reaching out to maybe gigging artists who use 88 note because of the hammer action. _________________ --Korg Nautilus~~Korg Modwave--Korg SV-1-Korg Wavestate-- |
