It's not an acronym,theres a thread elsewhere in the forum about what the meaning behind the name was from greek mythology..

When they make the Engine Developer's Kit available, I'll gladly come up with a new acronym. In the meantime, I'm going to spend my cycles exploring (and enjoying) KRONOS's very rich and thoroughly closed synthesis architecture.
