What you are are trying to say is you found a way to change the pre loaded loops, to loops of your own? If you did this we would all like to know how you did it and I doubt it would get you in trouble although one of the Korg guys may have some advice or disclaimers to add.

ok let's go

i prouve my say with a movie i make this morning

you can watch it in this adress
http://s144498005.onlinehome.fr/wavedrum.html

i am so sorry for my very bad english

i want to explain a point:
the file of loop is in ".BIN" format, what this format ?, i don't know

but !, i know you can't read this files of loop in BIN format with audio computer reader, don't work, windows 7 don't recognize it

i search on a web, the BIN file audio is the same file of WAV but the difference is the header bloc

the header bloc in hexadecimal have an information of the leng wav, the resolution etc... but the bin file don't have need of that for working on wavedrum

i search on the web a software to remove the header bloc, but i not find it
then...i decide to just rename the WAV file extension change to the BIN extension, and it work fine, no probleme !

i try put my WAV in 16 BITS 44 KHZ, the loop reading on my wavedrum is too speed....in reflexion, i decide to change my WAV to the 16 BITS 48 KHZ, and done !, the speed reading is correct !

i try again put a another loop wave by naming LOOP0141.BIN
don't work...sorry, because the system of wavedrum recognize only the 140 loop files, no more !, but is enough for enjoy

now we have a possibiliti to change the 140 loop wave by the other loop wav you want, simply you rename all your wav between (LOOP0001.BIN to LOOP0140.BIN) and done !

other think, in the folder loop file is the heaviest to 752 KO only...why ?

i have a respons, because is a electronic limitation:
in same time, wavedrum must have put in memorie a sample you choose and a loop you decide to play with, he don't read directely on a SD-CARD, because is too slow

for example; 752 KO loop, and a djembe PCM instrument selected
may be together heaviest to 2 MO !

the probleme is the 2 chips near the sd-card
CHIPS ONE IS ; "EN29LV800C"
8 Megabit (1024K x 8-bit / 512K x 16-bit) Flash Memory
Boot Sector Flash Memory, CMOS 3.0 Volt-only

CHIPS TWO IS ; "ESMT M12L128168A"
2M x 16bits x 4 banks Synchronous SDRAM

I think the first chips load the system like a phone interface
the second chips, load on his memorie the sample playing and the loop wav, i think the second chips have only 2 MO memory per programme and loop you choose

that's why the loop is in mono, not stereo, to take up less memory
a wave in mono takes twice less space, test with your headphone and you realize all the loop in wavedrum are in mono
I did not try, but I think if you put a wave too long it might not pass especially if it exceeded 2 MO
I put my wave in stereo and work fine, but I took care whether one music measure and not two so that the file is small (my stereo wave i replace on a movie take only 355 KO)

I also noticed that the manual that came in the box is the same as for the original version SILVER, and That a separate supplement is provided, that stuff myself having to look at book and of juggling two eyes to complete list sounds and loops, they are idlers among KORG or what? ... so I did it myself, and for those interested, I will put you in PDF page I created together a list of sounds PCM, programs, algorithms and loops for Wavedrum orientale

http://s144498005.onlinehome.fr/wavedrum/WAVEDRUM_ORIENTAL_PERSONNEL.pdf

i think too the WD2_DATA.BOR file on the root on a SD-CARD is the file contain all the PCM instruments sample, i am pretty sure of that
but i don't have a software to change the programme and modified the internal file, i search and and find the .BOR file is create with LINUX, i just know it, and what assembled programme KORG use for compiling this file...i don't know too

if we can enter in this file and change the parameter, we certainely change the limitation of value of 140 loop to the other , may be 500 loop ...why not., all the file in SD-CARD take only 223 MO space until the SD-CARD can make 2 GO !!, is possible, but i don't have a right sofware for do it...sorry.

thank you for having the patience to get reading to the end

I have in this moment succeeded to add 1 new playalong on a Silver WD.
and probably shot my warranty ... Twisted Evil

the file must be MONO !!! and not too big

the card is 1 MB only , I could not (yet) add a "LOOP0101.BIN".
It did work very fine as LOOP0001.BIN.

freestok , You did a very great work ,
I hope its only the beginning of some things... Big FAT Respect !!

WaterDrum

I never said that the sample must should be mono

I said that the loop was originally in the unit are all in mono
but you can put your own sample in stereo without problems, it works

No, the MICRO SD-CARD have 2 GO memory, the problem is the électronic chip load only 2 MO per programmes, sound PCM selected, and LOOP together they should not exceed 2 MO, I'm not sure, but I think it works like that, I did not venture to do more, but you can try to see the limits

you can replace all the LOOP, 1 to 141 by the same name LOOP0001.BIN, LOOP0002.BIN, LOOP0003.BIN, LOOP0004.BIN, LOOP0005.BIN ect...to LOOP0140.BIN, no more, because if you put 141 loop (LOOP0141.BIN), the wavedrum ignore the over of 140 sample.

only for the SILVER version, you can put LOOP0001.BIN to LOOP0100.BIN
because the silver have 100 loop preset.

you are welcome.

Now I ask myself one question, if someone wants to take the risk
If someone has a Wavedrum silver, and that puts the entire system of oriental Wavedrum its memory card
would transform it into silver Wavedrum to the Wavedrum oriental ?

of course, we must create a backup before

...humm, i think yes...may be

So has anyone tried using the oriental files in a silver wavedrum? does it work? and vice versa? I like the potential of an upgrade path for my WD and the possibility of customizing my unit as well. Of course this would probably void all warranties... Question

I had mine apart to change heads. I never thought to look at the board it was the first time I had ever changed a head on any drum so I was single minded at the time. You really dug in deep keep it up! Thanks! Laughing

Thinking out loud here, relocating the card reader for external access would be great!

Yes it"s possible to relocate the card reader on external way

the other guy give me a solution here:
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/436746345/Micro_SD_card_reader_extension_cable.html

existing the extension cable, the problem is i don't find to buy it by one unit only... Sad
but I'm sure we can find a dealer in detail, after it, we can make changing loop without disassemble WD and access easy and quickly. Smile

great video freestok. I can imagine several engineers at Korg are smacking their foreheads about now.

I'm actually surprised the designer(s) didn't put the card slot on the outside. They could offer additional loops and make more money off us. Whoops!
