I finally got to use the Kronos on a complete gig - not just a jamming gig.
First off, it is a very good sounding board live. Everything seemed to have more body and fidelity than my PC3 (which I usually use). I found some of the string sounds to be a little too dynamic and bright. In this respect the PC3 comes out ahead for great string sounds. I also think that the Motif string sounds - while not as dynamic, might be more controllable overall in a band setting.

The SST works great. Much better than I thought. It is completely seamless and I can switch between programs and combis smoothly - something I cannot do on the PC3 easily.

The only sound I was disappointed in was the piano. It's just not EQ'ed for my rig right now. I am going to have to work on it to get it correct. Too much midrange and not enough clarity the way it is now. I like the piano in my S90es because it sounds great in a band setting. I will have to work on the Kronos piano to get more clarity and presence.

The Busch EP programs sound great! Very nice!

In the end, I love the way the board sounds. It sounds great in mono and stereo and the setlist mode along with SST works much better than I thought it would. This is one big sounding board - maybe the Motif could sound like this, but there's not enough polyphony to do that. I am able to use 4 layers without hearing the polyphony suffer. In this respect it is acting a lot like my PC3. I just wish it could mute without using polyphony in the combis.

Echo this. Gigged it properly last night. 40 songs in set list mode. worked flawlessly. Same issue with the piano sound although this just an eq issue.
Plated a few tracks with samples too. Autoload worked well too.

I've got my DX7s as a controller keyboard. Aging, Kronos was more than happy for it's/my edited combis to be played on separate midi channels.

A truly great bit of kit.

Aldo our gig started in daylight. No screen issues at all. Left it on for the 2 hour gap between sets and again, flawless.

Dan
