|

I have a kronos here and I am trying to control it from my RD-700. The RD-700 is just sending simple note on/off data on midi channel one, I can verify that by sending it's midi data into logic. However when I connect it to the Kronos (after just powering up) nothing happens, even though I hear sound from the Kronos' own keyboard. This happens whether I am in prog or combi. It is brand new, out of the box.
All I want to do is trigger the piano sounds from my weighted keyboard. Am I doing something wrong? |

The RD-700 is transmitting on Midi channel one. The Kronos is receiving on midi channel one. Can't find a setting for "mode," but whatever it is, it's the factory default.
Is there some way to a factory reset? Could it be a hardware fault? |

Have you tried changing channels on the RD? When i got my Kronos, the global ch was set to 16, and the first slot in combis to "gch" (global channel). You could also try and see if it responds to cc:s (mod wheel, sustain pedal...), there may be some kbd setting you can alter in the RD. If you can't make the Kronos respond to anything on any channel there may be a problem. _________________ Kronos in the house..! |

Try going into SEQ mode (front panel button). By default, your first Song should be set up for a simple piano sound on each of 16 channels. So whatever you are transmitting on or receiving on will sound....IF there is midi note data being transmitted. Then you can hunt down which channel it is by muting tracks or adjusting volume sliders of each track on Kronos.
Also....have you considered that you simply have a bad midi cable? _________________ http://soundcloud.com/ronf-3/sets/ronf-music

Yes, I've checked the midi cable by plugging it into logic and monitoring the data flow. I've tried changing the transmit to channel on the RD, and I can't get any response from the Kronos on any midi channel, in any of the three modes, combi, prog, or seq. |
